NCAA Tournament Bubble Matrix:
18 Teams fighting for the last 7 at-large spots
A one-stop-shop for NCAA Tournament selection analytics & criteria, with each category weighted based on recent selection committee trends.
🎓UCLA, TCU, Utah State, Iowa, Ohio State, Missouri, UCF & Missouri have graduated from the bubble and will make the NCAA Tournament.
- A friendly reminder that historically there are at least 2 bid thieves, meaning two teams steal auto bids during conference tournaments. Keep an eye on the Atlantic 10, Mountain West & MAC.
- With so many bubble losses over the weekend, those rare teams that won (VCU, Santa Clara & Stanford) made up ground in the seed line hierarchy. VCU & Santa Clara remain in the field, and Stanford is now knocking on the door of selection.
- The margin of error from Santa Clara down is microscopic, and a big win early in conference tournament week will likely move the needle.
-Metrics (including poor road record) and weak non-conference scheduling are really holding back West Virginia.
Note: I've included @haslametrics into the matrix - his work is excellent and is a helpful data point.
