An update on my illness since it's been almost a year.
Things are a bit better and it's not as exhausting to do daily lives tasks but it's still takes a lot of me.
My family is safe and I couldn't ask for more.

My baby is back home.

Masha is staying overnight at the vet. She was a bit off last week- reduced appetite, smaller poops etc- which isn't uncommon when she's broody. She was fine this morning, then around 11am Miko heard her wingflaps, then found her on the floor panting, unable to stand.

This is what strings do to a pigeon’s feet. The condition is called stringfoot, and here it was so bad that not only did one toe die off on its own from how deep the string had cut, but a second toe had to be amputated because even after a month in care it would not heal.

Unfortunately the poor girl passed away this morning, she wasn’t just eggbound but rather suffered from a massive growth from an infection that must’ve been eating away at her for years. There was nothing we could do to help her anymore.

I‘m at that point again where I don’t really know where I’m supposed to even put all these pigeons anymore but hey, another one from nearby who seems to have been eggbound for a couple days so here we are. If it’s not out by tomorrow we have to take her to surgery.
