Do you know how concrete is made? Where the materials come from? How much power is needed to create cement? Each turbine requires a foundation of around 1000 tons of concrete. That's 45 to 55 - 32 ton trucks burning diesel for every turbine. They also need between 40 to 60 tons of high strength steel again where do those materials come from? How much power is required to turn it into steel? And then to transport it to site? We haven't even thought about getting above ground yet but the list goes on and on. But you could tell me what part of a thousand ton block of solid concrete reinforced with rebar dug into the ground are you going to be able to recycle? It's called a scam because the people pushing it never talk about the costs of building the infrastructure. It is only cheap once the infrastructure is installed, equally it is only cheap when the wind blows. What happens when it doesn't?

@jimandreen77 @historyrock_ Covered Buddy Holly song "Words of Love" He was more of an influence that Elvis as Holly wrote his own songs, and played guitar while singing. Everly brothers were a big influence on the song harmonies the Beatles adopted. Chuck Berry was also a bigger influence than Elvis.

@historyrock_ Not true. They never cover Buddy. Plus Lennon was enamored with girl groups. And McCartney loved black R&B. Buddy was an influence but only one of many. But McCartney is unfailingly polite and I’m sure someone wanted him to say something nice about Buddy.

@PacificPaisley @JeromeFosterII Now we have data banks that provide energy for digital equipment and consume more energy and have a larger C02 footprint than the airline industry. Fly but don't phone.

@ukhwini @Unpop_Science Not really. Started with Neolithic farmers. The Romans much later were notable for deforestation of much of the Mediterranean region. Later the Maori destroyed 80% of New Zealand's forest before the Europeans arrived

@Unpop_Science I remember seeing remnants of the old forest in Cairngorms Natl Park years ago & realizing what all those bare sheep covered hills should’ve looked like😞 so much of Britannia is an ecological wasteland & the British spread that destruction when they colonized the forested earth.

That PETA, who aren’t serious people, are the only ones against the much needed deer management strategy shows how urgently it’s needed. Deer numbers are at their highest since the Norman conquest. To protect biodiversity their numbers must be controlled. bbc.co.uk/news/articles/…

@WhiteDonCheadle @dsonoiki I would have said Hurricane. But Paul had Hearts & Bones & Songs from the Capeman . Dylan has also got away with a lot of songs which were entertaining, but had meaningless lyrics.

Why does Bob Dylan occupy a higher cultural tier than Paul Simon? They are at worst, the same level songwriter, and Simon can actually sing Simon’s career also spans Simon & Garfunkel AND his solo work Simon also makes more global music (South Africa / Brazil influences)

@dsonoiki @WhiteDonCheadle And most of the tracks on Hearts & Bones or Graceland. But music is not about deciding how one song or one musician is better than another. They are both brilliant , is one more brilliant than the other?

@janegue85750421 @mometfisher @CAupdates @peta In Britain wild areas are fragmented, the more food available the more deer breed, these areas then become damaged by over grazing which impacts on all flora & fauna. Richmond Park London regularly culls their well managed healthy deer herd.

@ProtectTheWild_ Not all elites or Tory MPs support it. A poll of voters found most tory voters, like most of the general public are anti blood sports. The Conservative MP's anti blood sport organisation Blue Fox has always campaigned against blood sports.
