Great seeing some amazing friends this morning from the Hudson and Morris County Sheriff’s Offices at the NJ. State Sheriff’s Association Meeting.

Today the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office hosted the NJ State Sheriff’s Association Meeting in Franklin Township. Sheriff Darrin Russo welcomed everyone as the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard and K-9 Unit presented the colors. Sheriff’s and their leadership from throughout the State came together to discuss important law enforcement and judicial issues.

I want to thank the “I am Hope New Jersey” organization for their amazing generosity in providing Easter gifts for hundreds of children in our area which were distributed at Saint Clement Pope & Martyr Catholic Church in Rockaway Township. Thanks to our pastor, Father Giovanni Rodriguez for making this lovely event happen on Holy Saturday to capture the spirit of Easter for these lovely children. Saint Clement’s is a beautiful community of people who worship and better the community as a group. The organization’s motto of “Making a Difference One Child at a Time” clearly defines this amazing group.

Our Somerset County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Unit enjoyed being a part of the Bridgewater Baseball & Little League’s Opening Day recently. The young ball players and their families loved meeting Sgt. Shannon Snook and our 4 legged canine crime fighters. #PlayBall #scsoprotectingandconnecting

Congratulations to our friends in the Federation of Italian American Societies of NJ who held its Annual Gala Dinner this past weekend. Congratulations to our own member Livio Cioffi, Roseland Police Director, Father Tom Nicastro and UNICO National President Joseph Nasello Sr. who were honored for their accomplishments and service. Italian American Police Society of NJ Associate Member and Rockaway Township Mayor Joseph Jackson were part of a crowd of Italian American leaders and dignitaries. This is an amazing organization who consistently highlights the amazing aspects of Italian American culture in New Jersey. We are proud to be a partner.

Fantastic program making a difference

While my plans for Holy Week didn’t include days in bed with a high fever and chills…it is what it is. As I celebrate Easter Sunday in bed, listening to Cardinal Tobin’s Easter Message was lovely. I hope all of my friends are spending the day with family and friends. I have a lot to be thankful for as my mother continues to heal really well. Happy Easter! Love you all!

This week Sheriff’s Officer Brett Spearnock retired after 25 years of dedicated service to the Somerset County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff Darrin Russo presented Officer Spearnock with his retirement credentials and an award for his service in front of the Sheriff’s Office and Officer Spearnock’s family and friends. The members of the Sheriff’s Office lined up for a ceremonial final walkout for Officer Spearnock with his final call off on the air with Somerset County Communications. We congratulate Sheriff’s Officer Spearnock for his outstanding service and dedication. Good luck in your retirement!

As the Passover Holiday begins this evening, we hope that this holiday brings a time of reflection, renewal and peace to you and your families. As we celebrate the traditions of Passover, we are committed to protecting our diverse communities in New Jersey. We use this month to focus on increasing awareness about autism and focus on inclusion and acceptance for persons with autism. The Somerset County Sheriff’s Office continues to support and serve persons with autism with specialized training and equipment. We were especially honored to have NJ First Assistant Attorney General Katherine Calle, NJ State Police Superintendent Jeanne Hengemuhle and NJ State Assemblywoman Marissa Sweeney join us to make remarks. Thanks to Law Enforcement Chaplain Rabbi Weiss and Sister Joicy Palatty for the moving words of prayer! We were blessed to be in the company of these Sheroes.
