In the 2025–26 financial year, the UK Treasury received £331 billion in Income Tax. In the same period, the Government spent £333 billion on welfare. This situation is clearly unsustainable and requires urgent change. For the first time ever, we’re now spending more on welfare than we raise from those who are actually working. We need to change course: cut the burden on hard-working taxpayers, reward their effort, and create real incentives for more people to get into work and contribute. UK borrowing costs for 30 year money spiked up to 4.8% for just one day in 2022 when Reeves said that was a disaster. Today with Reeves as Chancellor it stands at nearly 5.5%. That means dear mortgages and government interest costs going up more.

As the UK is deliberately shutting down its own oil and gas industry and its refineries to rely on imports, it is bound to suffer more from world oil and gas market dislocation. We need to produce more domestic gas under long term contract.
