@MickOKeeffe Fine them massively and force them to sell it but don't demolish it. Let that be a lesson to anyone else who tries it. But again I know there are many examples of developers who bent planning rules and appear to have avoided sanction.

How Ireland works : Today Meath Council started the demolition of an Irish family's home that was built without planning permission 20 years ago. Despite years of legal struggles trying to right the planning issues, the parents of the family are now facing arrest. Meanwhile, a purpose built migrant village consisting of 65 different structures that was also built without planning permission, has not been demolished. It still houses migrants to this day and the owners have been paid over €30 million since the development was deemed illegal, despite it being called "Ireland's biggest planning scandal."

After a century of tweedledum and tweedlee, there is now a chance for a government without Fianna Fáil and Fine Gael. The only way to get a change of government is to vote Sinn Féin on Friday. #ge24 #rtept #leadersdebate

We are staring down the barrel of a loaded gun with a lot more businesses going bust this winter. You will see things starting to shake from end of august onwards. Its not looking good i’m afraid Tourism is still absolutely decimated throughout rural Ireland. Talking to a prominent business man yesterday who has multiple retail outlets all around the ring of kerry and he told me he’s down 30% on last year already Restaurants and bars are way down. A local guesthouse owner in Killarney told me his occupancy for July is currently at 27% and the dog on the street can see how quiet so many towns and villages are This time last year I said there would be a huge amount of closures last winter. I can tell you now, there’ll be the exact same this winter. I wasn’t wrong last year and I’m not wrong this time either It will be utter carnage

It was worth getting up at 5.30 to get to Dublin at half-seven for an interview in the US embassy. Visa renewed for another five years. This day fortnight, I’ll visit the States for the 53rd time, astonishing for a council house kid who never dreamed he’d get there even once. 😃

@lmaccuirc @CiDeely Only thought the same today. Ulster Football Final has always been a big occasion and maybe Clones has hosted alot but they don't have exclusivity like Dublin in Leinster

Aside from the obvious fact that the Leinster Provincial C’ship is dead (and who should shoulder responsibility for that) Would it not a really obvious positive step for whoever is playing v Dublin in the final each year, that they get the home venue And if you feel that is unfair competition…well I’ve got a concept of a national 82,000 seater home stadium to sell you 👊 x.com/thesundaygame/…

@alancaw It's a completely different game on it. Kids train on them, then can't adjust. Our players went to various "acadamies" over the years and never set foot on grass. A joke. Clubs need more investment from Govt to improve drainage on current pitches and pay for their maintenance.

Am I right in saying 25% of the clubs between Premier Division & the First Division now have Astro turf pitches? (Derry) (Dundalk) (Kerry) (Athlone) (Cobh) Not a positive in my eyes nor will it ever be a positive to me! 🇮🇪⚽️

The island of Ireland has overachieved so much on the golfing stage ⛳️ And it has always been so Shane Lowry is class, but Rory McIlroy is absolute box-office Additionally, I think McIlroy should be spoken about as one of the island’s greatest ever sportspeople Alongside Best, O Driscoll, Brady, McGrath, Keane Who else 🤔 As I’m showing my team-sporting bias… x.com/brodyamiller/s…

Jamie Vardy, FOOTBALL legend, I could genuinely cry, 20 goals this season, on commentary they mentioned he’s the only player still at Leicester from their 2014 Championship win he’s really been there through it all and seen absolutely everything, what a way to go out

Dublin v Derry in League Final at Croker is great and all… but GAA people should also take note of the GAA C’ship being launched by a Div 4 team (what I’m sure are a great group of young lads) having to play a relatively decent Div 1 team… and get beaten by 27 points I would encourage Jarlath Burns, Jim Gavin, and all other Croke Park administrators & committee members to come to Ruislip to such a game, make a rousing speech, and comment upon/analyse how our games is in such a healthy state And how Congress (never mind Provincial Council ostriches) still believe the integrity of their competitions & and well-being of their members (players) are best-served by the provincials being played in their current format & season scheduling What I would do: - get rid of Congress (only joking…honestly🙃) - play Provincial cship as a standalone knockout cup competition at the beginning of the season (Feb-Mar) - Hand Dublin the Leinster title before the comp starts, then let the other 10 teams fight it out for prize of runners up - decouple Provincials from All-Ireland c’ship completely - Combine League & All-Ireland into Champions League style competition - from final League standings, have Sam Maguire, Tailteann Cup, and Paidi O Shea Cup - Croke Park properly fund the likes of London/New York/Waterford etc - if you include them in your competitions, look after them better! - link all Croke Park running to proper long-term Strategic Plans, with sufficient coaching pathways, S&C programmes, games development etc. A rising tide must lift all boats - return the League to Div 1a, 1b, 2a, 2b. The gap btn Div 1 and the rest is widening & not progressing our game - Croke Park release a proper strategy regarding the rural to urban migration trends in the country. At this rate, Dublin will (continue) to win 7-8 All Irelands out of every 10 years, other ‘big’ counties will bankrupt themselves attempting to keep with the pace…and it’s all going to get really, really boring 🏆 Anyway, welcome to the GAA Provincial Championships 👍👍👍
