5th Saturday in a row with no game being played. @utdcos you seriously need to be thinking about extending the season. One more game called off for us and we’re finished

🗞️YELLOWS FALL TO OPENING DAY DEFEAT Despite the lion’s share of possesion, Yellows were unable to capitalize and start the new campaign with a narrow defeat to newly promoted Blackstones. Brad Wells had the best chance for the home side as his header was tipped over the bar in the first half. The deadlock was eventually broken though with just minutes left to play as the visitors were able to scramble home a set-piece as they leave the RM with the spoils.

We fully understand the disappointment felt by Basford United FC supporters following last night’s result. However, it is important to clarify that, due to competition rules, the majority of our main U19 Scholars were ineligible for selection. Aside from the four who had previously featured in this competition, the rest were not permitted to play, despite being signed to our affiliated entity, Basford United FC. Contrary to some reports, last night’s squad consisted of a maximum of 15 eligible players. Unfortunately, due to personal circumstances and pre-game injuries, two named substitutes were unavailable, another player sustained an injury, and a loanee was refused permission to play by his parent club. As a result, we had only one substitute available, who himself suffered an injury shortly after coming on. Additionally, eight first-team players were ineligible for selection. With a crucial league fixture on Saturday, our priority remains clear, our upcoming Northern Premier League matches against Lancaster FC and Whitby Town next week. That being said, we extend our congratulations to Hucknall Town on reaching the final. Their win was well deserved, and we wish them the best of luck in the final.
