Takin a look at the #Pirates roster once Cruz and Horwitz return from injury, which sounds to be 1-2 weeks away right now. The team can carry 13 position players until September 1st when the rosters expand and they are able to add a 14th. Here's how I see things shaking out... C - Davis, Rodriguez INF - Horwitz, Lowe, N Gonzalez, Triolo, J Gonzalez OF - Reynolds, Cruz, O'Hearn, Valdez, Mangum 14th man in September will be Griffin That leaves 1 spot left between Callihan and Ozuna And sadly, and unfortunately, there's just no way Ozuna is not on the team. There's no way Ben Cherington admits defeat and DFAs his 12 million dollar owner bonus money acquisition. So barring a baseball trade, where a team in contention for a wild card birth needs a right-handed DH and has excess pitching to send out, Callihan will be optioned.
