When I raise questions about the commonly accepted views on events like the "Holocaust" or the "Nanjing Massacre," I always receive the same rebuttal: "It's all written in official records, so it's a fact!"
To that, I add another question:How many of the people who make such criticisms have actually read those official records? ……

Someone could *say* 50/50, but they’d be demonstrably incorrect unless there is some mechanism enforcing that probability.
I definitely see what you’re saying, but that’s where it does start to get tricky because the actual statistical probability is being diluted by info that doesn’t affect the outcome.
That’s why I used the roulette history board as an example. It’s meant for people to look at and think something like “oh wow, it landed on black 3 times in a row, so this table is *due* to hit a red soon”.
The difficulty lies in that someone who’s thinking that is technjcally correct that hitting black 4x in a row is more unlikely than likely. It’s the correct answer, but they’re solving the wrong problem.

If you knew misfire stats, you'd go with that 99.9% or whatever. If you had a god-view, you'd know this specific gun, in this specific time will or will not fire 100%.

I think he’s conflating possible outcomes with probable ones.
To use an extreme example, if someone puts a gun to another’s head and pulls the trigger, there’s a small but non-zero probability that the 2nd person will be fine due to a mechanical failure or bad ammunition.
But that does not mean they have a 50/50 chance of living.
