It is wonderful to see this piece of Eden in London’s financial centre. We started building the Floating Ecosystems in Dec 2023. After 9 months of work, 16 Floating Ecosystem sections have been installed with over 7000 aquatic plants! We can’t wait to see it mature! 🌿

A new project integrating & flourishing in London's Millwall Inner Dock. This includes four nesting/preening areas for birds and over 3000 native aquatic plants. The installation is a project of the Canal&River Trust - ‘Greening the Waterways’ and habitat enhancement initiatives.

The first phase of a 700m2 Floating Ecosystem project in Bristol was introduced during the City's vibrant Festival of Nature. This initiative is part of Bristol City Council’s project to provide new moorings and facilities for the boating community at Capricorn Quay.

We are delighted to have installed Biomatrix Floating Ecosystems at Glasgow Science Centre and even more delighted that the project was awarded Peel Ports' first-ever Group Marine Environmental Award!

A New Archipelago of 5 Biomatrix Floating Islands Incorporating 6 Module / Habitat Types Provides Habitat Connectivity in Amsterdam. They will support wildlife, providing habitat stepping stones for important local species, with specific features designed for the Water Shrew.

A 5,600 m2 living biofilter in the form of 31 Floating Ecosystems is being installed across three lakes at Witches Oak in Derbyshire. The project is a part of Severn Trent Water’s Green recovery program, under the decarbonising water resources workstream. #naturebasedsolutions

It's a peaceful evening at the Royal Docks floating park, as the sun sets and the water reflects the orange sky. The Biomatrix team has spent the day readying the Floating Ecosystems for another growing season and observing how different people interact with this unique habitat.

Within days of installation, the Floating Ecosystems in Melbourne were already being used as a refuge by breeding swans and ducks, and by Rakali, a rarely sighted native water rat! #urbanwildlife #regeneration #habitatcreation

We are delighted to be working with the Eden Project and Eden Project Learning to research the application of Floating Ecosystems and floating habitats to bring ecosystem services into urban and impacted environments. Dr. Ian Hendy is working with a team of MSC and PhD students.
