Recently we investigated the mechanical properties [MP] of 4 breast cancer cells subtypes representatives, and obtained the MP using atomic force microscopy measurements, demonstrating that the MP of the cells are associated with cancer cell malignancy. More info 1st comment.

This primer in microscopy discusses sample preparation and determination of the (traction) force field, and presents an example with cells. The figure shows a cartoon with a cell on an elastic substrate (left), and the influence of actin disruption on traction forces (right).

The interaction of cells with the extracellular matrix, produces traction forces that can be visualised and quantified with traction force microscopy.

The fifth article in the series Measuring biological materials mechanics with atomic microscopy force has been published. The article emphasises on traction force microscopy and can be found under doi.org/10.1002/jemt.2….

They have come to study the Behaviour of bike-sharing system users from around the world through mathematical models like the self organizing maps. This project is done in cooperation with @donaiesportuv having a gender perspective approach.

We got two new visitors in our biophysics group @_laura_anton (PhD student) and @I_Villarrasa (Postdoc) from the University of Valencia @UV_EG

Giuseppe went to MECAREACT 2023: Vibrational and electronic spectroscopies applied to the study of reaction mechanisms that took place in Paris, France. He presented a poster titled “kalmia procumbens: Cuticle, stomata and trichomes chemistry revealed by confocal Raman microscopy

This month two of our PhD student went to conferences. @Alex_Einchutz (left) and @g_tiloca (right)

Alexander went to the 12th International colloids conference that took place in Palma, Spain and he presented a poster titled "Biophysical and Substrate Bioengineering Methods for investigating Cell Adhesion, Cell Spreading and Cell Mechanics".
