Everyone's favorite family of Barred Owls has returned! During the afternoon on March 11, 2026, the female Barred Owl laid an egg while resting in the nest box. When she left the box a few hours later, we got a 1st look at the round, shiny jewel left behind: the 1st egg of 2026!

Over the last few weeks, Athena the Great Horned Owl at the Wildflower Center owl cam has beenvisitingEarly in the morning on March 5 our questions were answered: at 1:31 AM she stood up and revealed an egg! This video shows the first daylight sighting of the egg, about 6h later
