Our annual team conference this week in Northumberland. This is THE chance for us to come together as a team to discuss, plan and of course…bird watch! Day 1 is always inside for conference, but day 2 means we get outside and explore! Looking forward to the 2025 season.

Don't think I've been as wet as I was 10 minutes ago since 2 June 2018.

Another memorable Cairngorms' avian treat was seeing this ultra-rare snowy owl (Hedwig from Harry Potter) on the Ben Macdui/Cairn Gorm plateau. This very occasional visitor to the British mainland had taken up residence at the exact same place that others of its kind had done periodically for the last 100+ years. That different birds have made their way to this patch of ground, no more than 5 square miles, is in itself remarkable, given that they come from the high Arctic. What makes this area so special? And how is it communicated through generations of birds? (1/2)
