Excited to share kenyabirdtrends.co.ke & associated paper doi.org/10.1111/ddi.13…! We used @KenyaBirdMap & @Team_eBird data to assess the change in distribution range of 1 088 bird species. We found a range reduction among scavengers & migrants, while introduced birds expanded.

Migratory 🦇 are highly influenced by barrier effects, sex-biased timing of migration and the adaptive use of winds. Understanding their migration helps guide conservation, including offshore wind farm planning. 🦇🌊 #MovementEcology

A dream comes true! In Feb'25, I will join @MonashUni as a group leader on Global Change Biology. Our lab's primary focus will be understanding how animals respond to glob change using heterogeneous data and developing an efficient conservation plan to mitigate the impact. (1/3)

So happy to see this pre-print out. We offer a detailed description of the magnitude, composition and timing of spring raptor migration at @BatumiRaptors, and how this compares to the infamous autumn passage, based on pioneering counts led by the talented @Tohar_Tal. #ornithology

Full of luck and very grateful to @FundacionMigres for allowing us to study insect migration here as part of @Birgen_Haest and @Vogelwarte_scie MoveInEurope project.
The radar we use is in the courtyard & the malaise trap is in the lower middle of the photo.
A beautiful place!

This is a beautiful moorish gecko here in southern Spain. Geckos have tendons that allow their toes to be incredibly flexible.
Here I am very gently pushing on their feet to show this flexibility.
Gorgeous animal.

The Czech Turtle Doves tagged this year show two main migratory directions: one via Italy and one via the Balkans. Now they are in Africa where there is no LTE-M network. We hope to hear from them again when they are back in spring! 🕊️ | #HABITRACK #ornithology #birdmigration
