It's peak baby opossum season, which runs February through September. If you see a dead opossum on the road, her babies may be alive in her pouch or somewhere nearby. Pull over if it's safe, listen for soft sneeze-like sounds (that's the joeys calling for her), and contact a wildlife rehabber. Don't try to rescue them yourself, but do make the call.

5 more weirdly specific facts about Canada:
- There is a town in Manitoba called Churchill where residents routinely leave their car doors unlocked. It’s not because they are incredibly trusting—it’s so pedestrians have a quick escape route if they run into a polar bear.
- Alberta is completely, aggressively rat-free. It has been a criminal offense to own a pet rat here since the 1950s to protect agriculture. The province has a literal "Rat Patrol" to keep them out.
- Cashiers can legally reject your change if you use too much of it. Thanks to the Currency Act, a business can look at you and say "no" if you try to pay for a twenty-dollar item entirely in nickels.
- In Halifax, it is strictly illegal for taxi drivers to wear t-shirts. The municipal dress code bylaws mandate collared shirts, socks, and shoes. No casual Fridays for the cabbies.
- In Souris, Prince Edward Island, it is a local crime to build a snowman taller than 30 inches if you live on a corner lot. They don't want your winter masterpiece blocking drivers' views.
Seriously though, is anyone else watching Canadian Twitter right now? The timeline was absolutely on fire the last 4–5 days. Someone please check on the servers. 🔥😅

“The natural disaster in our area is not hurricanes, or tornadoes, or earthquakes; it is Lyme disease,” says MIT associate professor and pioneer in genetic engineering Kevin Esvelt, describing the severity of the tick-borne illness in the Northeast. cbsn.ws/3Rsnxgu
