Jesus, our Bread of Life, satisfies our hunger and thirst, including our existential longing for union with our Creator God. Let us turn to him in our need and allow him to satisfy our desires, longings, and needs.

May we always have the courage to defend what we believe as true from God, and surrender ourselves into God’s embracing arms doing so.

Filled with grace and power by Baptism, will we exercise our prophetic voice in our day and in the situation(s) in which we find ourselves?

Jesus accompanies us through the stormy moments of life.

In 1979, the day after I was ordained a Deacon in Rome, I preached on the readings for today at the tomb of St. Robert Bellarmine. Today I marvel at how God has used my “five loaves and two fish” in my life and ministry. I can only marvel at God’s grace.

Our God is eminently trustworthy. He wants us to place our trust in him. How has he proven trustworthy in your life? What in your life do you need to entrust to him more fully?

“God so loved the world that he gave his only-­begotten Son, so that everyone who believes in him might not perish but might have eternal life.” That Son is the Light of the World. May we always walk toward and live in the Light.

The Spirit empowers us to share in the cross of Jesus through the trials and tribulations of our life, always with an eye to Resurrection hope.

The Paschal Mystery and its fruit takes root in our lives through the working of the Holy Spirit sent as our Advocate and Consoler.

Jesus tells us, as he told his disciples, “Go into the whole world and proclaim the Gospel to every creature.”

Jesus provides for his followers - always.

I was profoundly blessed to recognize Jesus powerfully in the liturgies of this Holy Week. I feel like Jesus entered into my heart and said “Peace be with you.” Now I must be a witness to the grace made available to us by God’s graciousness.

Jesus accompanies us on our journey through life, just as he accompanied the two disciples on the road to Emmaus. We must share the faith and the face of Jesus with others as he makes himself known to us in the breaking of the bread shared with us, which we are called to become.

Easter motivates us to move forward, to leave behind our sense of defeat, to roll away the stone of the tombs in which we often imprison our hope, and to look with confidence to the future, for Christ is risen and has changed the direction of history. (Pope Francis)
