Last week we had the pleasure of supporting @btcplusplus Nairobi 🇰🇪, the first bitcoin++ conference in Africa and the first-ever open source edition. Over three incredible days, we saw developers, researchers, educators, and builders come together to explore Bitcoin, Lightning, privacy, mining, open-source development, developer tooling, financial infrastructure, and the future of building on Bitcoin. It was inspiring to see so many ideas turn into working projects tackling real-world challenges. We're especially proud of the strong representation from our community, with members speaking across the conference and teams building projects that earned recognition across multiple hackathon categories. A huge thank you to @niftynei and the entire bitcoin++ team for bringing this milestone event to Africa, as well as the speakers, mentors, judges, volunteers, sponsors, and every attendee who made it such a success. We're excited to see the projects, collaborations, and conversations that started here continue long after the conference. See you next year! 🚀

Visited @DadaDevs yesterday and was truly impressed by the space and the incredible work the team is doing. Had an amazing experience today visiting the @GridlessCompute mining site. thanks to @whiteafrican for the tour and for walking us through the entire operation from power generation to the hydro powered mining infrastructure. Impressive work and an incredible example of how Bitcoin mining can leverage stranded renewable energy. The 8-hour drive was absolutely worth it. So much exciting innovation is happening in Kenya. 🫡

BitDevs Mauritius 🇲🇺 was proudly represented by @rsadiqra at the @btcplusplus Open Source Edition in Nairobi 🇰🇪. Alongside fellow BitDevs organizers across Africa, we shared lessons, challenges, and ideas for growing Bitcoin developer communities on the continent.

Open Source takes time - it’s not fast for a reason. It rewards patience - just like Bitcoin.

The last time I was in Kenya wasn’t entirely Bitcoin related. This time is different. I’m heading to Kenya next week and plan to make the most of my stay by exploring as much of the local Bitcoin ecosystem as possible. Here’s my current checklist: @btcplusplus Open Source Edition, of course. Reconnect with the teams at @tando_me, @minmo_to, and @bitika_KE. Visit the newly launched @NodeNBO. I’m sure I’m missing a lot. Any recommendations for Bitcoin only activities, communities, or builders I should connect with? I’d love to learn from the Kenyan ecosystem and bring ideas back to help strengthen our community in Mauritius 🇲🇺.
