With the way i view it. Anything can be art. For example this empty water bottle on my desk that has literally no meaning at all but what i can say is “the way its been sitting there for days, empty waiting for its day to go into the garbage. Or, is it waiting to be filled up again and reused. Youll never know.” And thats what makes my art piece so great.
Art is subjective to the individual. The sky itself isnt man made but i think its pretty artistic no? The way the clouds roll over the sky and when the sun sets and turns shades of orange and pink. Its art for my eyes an image an art piece saved in my brain only for me.

@BitReaper_ It does have to be human created. Its not only in the definition but is proved in how humans project view of world or how they take part in things or tell a story.
This is why AI generated images are not, cannot, and never will be art. The prompters are not artists.
English

What classifies “art” as “art”? Isnt “art” subjective to the viewer. Does it need to be human created? What about Suda the elephant that created “art”.
Subjectivity is the bases on what classifies “art” as “art”. What if what makes it “art” to someone is the way technology has advanced in such a way that has allowed computers to generate “art”.
This post is less about the morality of GenAI and more of the human perspective and subjectivity.
Generally curious on what yalls thoughts would be. :)

@BitReaper_ I miss you too! I'll try to drop by whenever i see you on! 🩵

@WyntrHeart40 @AshleybabeyVrc Yeah i fully understand the concern but this post was supposed to break away from that and bring more of a deep question of is AI art art and not really about the ethicality. I apologize for responding to something i said i wouldnt 🙏
English

@BitReaper_ @AshleybabeyVrc I think the reason it's considered so ecologically bad is because unlike other polluting processes it doesn't do anything particularly important. It uses wildly more power than other computer processes, just to produce images that make people sad about AI replacing artists

I really didnt want to get into the weeds of climate and all of that but almost everything we do as a species, as humans, is degrade the earth. Cars, public transport, electricity, the things we eat, the banks that hold our money, upgrading our own computers with ram. Until we are ready to give all of that up as well. We cannot judge others for the use of ai as it falls directly under that same category imo. But that being said this platform is open for all comments and youre entitled to your opinion as well and i wont judge or unadd or hate anyone based on their opinions surrounding AI 🖤🤍🖤

@Com_turtle199 I somewhat agree! I agree that art has more meaning and expression behind itself when it is created by a living breathing person. But with art being subjective to the beholder…
Ai art is still art. Stinky cringe art but still art nonetheless. :)
English

@BitReaper_ Art needs to have been made by a living soul to have any meaning. AI is often better. But there is no life, reason, or desire in what it makes. A stick figure, even a messy smudge of color has more weight to it then a golden mural printed by a thoughtless machine
