The BitcoinFriendlySA online store is live — buy local SA goods with Bitcoin only. After spending the past few weeks finalising the checkout flow using BTCPay Server so payments can be processed directly in Bitcoin, and refining the fulfillment model by running some test shipments, I’m happy to announce that the online store is now up and running. It’s a focused online store where you can buy South African goods like coffee or rooibos exclusively with Bitcoin. The idea is simple: We partner with South African small businesses that already accept Bitcoin in-store and curate their products for online purchase. All payments are made in Bitcoin, and our partner merchants are paid in Bitcoin. We’re currently working with: 1. Ekhaya Coffee Roasters (Strand): Specialty coffee roasted in Strand, inspired by adventure and rooted in the warmth of home. 2. Siki’s Kofee Kafe (Khayelitsha): A community-driven coffee shop in Khayelitsha that’s part of the Bitcoin Loxion Circular Economy. 3. Northern Plateau Rooibos (Woodstock): A rooibos tea merchant sourcing from the Bokkeveld Plateau, with a store in Woodstock, Cape Town. For now, we’re focused on Cape Town and the Winelands while we properly control logistics and the customer experience. If you’re curious to learn more about why the store exists, or simply want to jump straight in and start buying goods with Bitcoin, you can explore here: bitcoinfriendlysa.co.za/shop And if you do place an order, I’d genuinely appreciate any feedback on what worked, what didn’t, what felt smooth, and what felt confusing (if anything). And even if you don’t order, I’d still really value your thoughts on the store. Cheers, Nick
