@davidclowery Who are all those idiots that pay for music, when you can get it for free.

If anyone ever says an AI tune is #1. They are talking about the iTunes chart. You can buy a couple thousand downloads and chart. Here’s the global on the most recent. This is not organic. First note #2 in Denmark. #4 in Sweden. No downloads in Finland. Similarly they forgot Spain. Shazam in only 3 countries? Still buying a few thousand downloads is “easy” but means corporate money involved. Information op.

@davidclowery AI song is #1 on the iTunes charts. Don’t worry I will stream this for free, like I stream my Cracker tunes.

Imagine your employees using AI for something mission critical. This AM I asked this AI (Claude Opus) for help finding the closest Ham Radio POTA that I have not activated. I provided .CSV file of parks I activated and the list of all POTA parks. I noticed it gave me a park/wma that i'd never heard of. Nor could I find it on the State list of WMA. It took 5 interrogations for the AI to admit it had made it up. Its less concerning it made it up, and more concerning that it kept covering up that it had hallucinated. AI is a bubble. It's revenue is based on top down implementaion by idiot CEOs.

This is #1 on the download charts. Not streaming chart. No one downloads. Someone paid for a bunch of downloads. This is an information op because they are desperate.

@davidclowery Who, exactly, are the “AI folks” that are doomed? Your list of doomed companies probably starts with Amazon, which is on the cutting edge of AI implementation in house and building out AI implementation world wide? What other companies are doomed?

Certain AI tools are useful in certain contexts. Depending on the context they can increase productivity or allow someone to do better work. They are likely to stick around. But they are completely oversold by the AI companies. This is because it’s a fucking bubble and they are trying to save their own asses by fooling incurious and dim witted CEOs into purchasing/implementing these tools top down. The main strategy is to use a doomer information op that falsely claims AI will displace a huge percentage of jobs, and rapidly transform a huge percentage of the economy. Further effect is to demoralize the general public so there is no critical pushback. This is not going to end well for the AI folks.

🚨BREAKING: ANTHROPIC IS GIVING AWAY THE SAME CERTIFICATION THAT DELOITTE IS MASS-TRAINING 15,000 EMPLOYEES TO GET. It costs $0. You need a laptop. That's it. It's called the "Claude Certified Architect." Think of it like the AWS cert but for AI. If you were around when AWS certs started, you know what happened. They went from "cool to have" to "you're not getting hired without one." That took about 5 years. This is going to happen way faster. Look at who's already moving: Accenture - training 30,000 people on Claude Cognizant - rolled it out to 350,000 employees Deloitte - opened Claude access to 470,000 people Infosys - anchor partner These aren't startups experimenting. These are billion dollar consulting firms restructuring their entire workforce around Claude. And the certification they need? You can take it right now from your bedroom. Let me be real though. This is not one of those "watch 2 videos and get a badge" type certs that nobody respects. This thing is hard. 60 questions. 2 hours. Proctored. Webcam on. No breaks. No googling. They drop you into real scenarios like designing a customer support agent that handles refunds or setting up Claude in a CI/CD pipeline. The wrong answers look right on purpose. They're the exact mistakes real engineers make in production. 720 out of 1000 to pass. People who took it are saying the agentic architecture and multi-agent orchestration sections are brutal. Most of the exam is about building AI systems that actually work in the real world. Not prompting. Not chatting with Claude. Architecting production systems. All the prep? Free. Anthropic put out 13 courses on their Academy. No paywall. The cert itself is free for the first 5,000 people. After that $99 per attempt. How to get it: 1. Join the Claude Partner Network (free) → partnerportal.anthropic.com 2. Start the free prep courses → anthropic.com/learn 3. Register for the exam → anthropic.skilljar.com 4. Take the official practice exam 5. Book the real one when you're ready It launched 10 days ago. Almost nobody has it yet. That's the whole point. Get it before it becomes the thing everyone has.

Interesting, so your point is music consumption has roughly doubled (population has roughly doubled) since 1975, but aggregate music sales have been flat. Also, if you start from 2010, it looks like streaming has saved the industry from a massive decline (the Napster years that preceded 2010).

@davidclowery More important data question is whether this table is adjusted for inflation. $1 billion in 2026 has the buying power of $165 million in 1975. Thus if there were $6billion in record sales in 1975, that is equivalent to $36 billion today.

@Carlso1 @davidclowery Dave has a run of three Cracker shows starting tomorrow. Lots of tickets still available for sale. Only $40. Clearly he is willing to show up and play and not make money.

@davidclowery Curious, though, what the Business school would say about announcing to a big chunk of your client base, that they just aren't worth catering to.

The Paranoid Style
The Paranoid Style@paranoiacs·
The miraculous result of Billy Gibbons' on-its-face- insane desire to make ZZ Top sound more like Depeche Mode, ‘Eliminator’ is forty-five minutes of ecstatic hooks and Fairlight boogie whose London-Texas groove is nothing less than a fully novel musical vernacular. A masterwork.
