On this day in 2014, the @rolandstorycsd FFA community garden began. In the first 7 years, in excess of 107,000 pounds were produced and donated to local food pantry’s. Great collaboration between businesses and school organization.

On this day in 2014…. @rolandstorycsd Horticulture students are learning about sprayer calibration today as their lab. Math applications being utilized.

From 14 years ago today….proud of how well the @rolandstorycsd FFA members did at last evenings sub-district contests, and how well they represented their families, community and school. Students advanced in 8 of the 9 contests. 21 different members participated.

Looking new again! @KeyCooperative These two 1984 grill tanks came in yesterday afternoon and after spending 20 min. on each where they got sanded, wire brushed and painted (primer then finish paint), they’re looking like new.. now just need to add stickers.

Had the honor this morning in representing @KeyCooperative along with Chris Nady in working with both Ag Sales contestants from the Ames FFA chapter.

You know you’ve been at it a long time when one of your freshmen students is the granddaughter of a student from your first year of teaching @rolandstorycsd .. Also had her dad in classes.. 3rd generation student!

Had a great day of subbing @rolandstorycsd high school— excellent morning assembly. Now getting ready for some @ISU volleyball vs West Virginia at 6:30.

From 7 years ago today. Today our @rolandstorycsd Ag I classes held our annual (my 41st) farm safety program for 3rd graders. Students did an excellent job. They were able to demonstrate effective communication skills which was 1 of their competency’s in their leadership unit.

ISU Business Career fair is so awesome. A highlight is seeing @rolandstorycsd graduates from class of 2020, now representing companies as representatives and interviewing prospective employees.

One of this morning’s projects @KeyCooperative before delivering 2 pickup loads of pumpkins to the @rolandstorycsd elementary school was to refurbish a 1973 grill tank. 25 minutes later, it was completed— washed, sanded, scraped, new valve, primed and painted.

@KeyCooperative donated 2 pickup loads of pumpkins to the @rolandstorycsd 1st and 2nd grade classes this morning from the KEY garden.

Apples, Watermelons and sugar pie pumpkins are headed off to the food pantry from the @KeyCooperative , WinField United and @rolandstorycsd 1st grade garden. The truck is loaded with 212 pounds of produce.

Superstars back in their freshmen year… one activity in our @rolandstorycsd Ag I class over our “Leadership unit” was being able to use appropriate communication skills in explaining how to correctly tie a tie. Always remembered it as being a fun educational activity.

Last week I finished tank #876. This was my 4th summer working for @KeyCooperative as their primary propane tank painter. (Been averaging 219 tanks per summer - mid May to early September). When you take pride in your work, you get very good results.

The @KeyCooperative , WinField, and @rolandstorycsd 1st grade garden is at its end. As of today, the garden has contributed 3,969 lbs of produce to area food pantries. There are still watermelons and sugar pumpkins left (plus Jack-o-lantern pumpkins for the elementary).

Subbed this afternoon @AmesHighSchool and had a great time. New Science class about production of food. Students worked in greenhouse and then collaborated about potential vegetables they could raise indoors this school year. Bonus was visiting with Principal Nicole Patton.
