May 6-10 is #CMHAW2024! This week is about increasing #mentalhealth awareness, decreasing #stigma and understanding that #help is available. Explore some of the resources available for Ss & families, and learn about what the #YRSDB is doing in schools to support Ss Mental Health!

Today our Eco club had a special presentation from our Artist in Residence . @Ahsennase has been working as our artist in residence creating this mural with our intermediate students. Thank you for sharing your learning with us today!

Performers from @kuneworld the global orchestra inspired our students with music from around the world! We loved singing and clapping along with songs in Turkish, Farsi, Arabic, and Spanish! Thank you so much for your performance!!

It was an exciting day of basketball here at Black Walnut today! Intermediate boys teams from the area were here for our tournament! Stay tuned for the results tomorrow!

Kindergarten to Grade 4 families it was wonderful to see you tonight for movie night! We hope you had fun and thank you for supporting our school! Thank you also to our school council for organizing!!

Today all classes participated in caring and safe school assemblies. We continue to work and learn together and value what makes us each special and unique.

It has been amazing seeing this mural take shape in our hallway. The intermediate students are so engaged in this learning and our younger grades are so excited to learn more! Thank you for sharing this learning experience with us!

Yesterday Black Walnut had a visit from @EarthRangers and it was amazing!!! Grades 1 to 6 were inspired to protect the planet as they learned about animals and their environments.

Tonight was a wonderful evening filled with music. Well done to our Grade 4 and 5 classes, our beautiful soloists and to our Grade 7 and 8 bands. And thank you to our music leader Ms. Taylor. #yrdsb

Monday and Tuesday at Black Walnut we were excited to visit and learn from @nadialhohn . She shared music and dance, songs and stories, and even recipes too! We are thankful for your visit and inspired to become storytellers ourselves! #yrdsb

Thank you so much Black Walnut! Our donation has been delivered to the Markham Food Bank. We delivered over 600 items including fruit, vegetables and non-perishables.

Our Fresh From The Farm Delivery is here. Kindergarten and Intermediate families will get their orders today. Grades 1-6 can pick up their items tomorrow or Friday. Thanks so much for supporting our fundraiser.

So proud of our intermediate volleyball team who played hard all day and made it to the finals in yesterday's tournament at Black walnut. Thanks also goes out to all participating schools and to the families that came out to support the teams!
