Today is the first day of Spring! It officially arrives at 10:46 this morning. Not too surprisingly, Winter this year won’t go away without a fight. Ottawa will be towards the northern edge of a storm today. Expect up to ~5cm of snow that starts ~8am. High -1°. Wind E ⬆️ 15-25.

These grasses poking through the snow seemed to sum up the cold yesterday. Temps will moderate a bit today -this last day of winter. The high will be near 3° which means flurries (a coating to ~2cm) may change to a ☔️ by later pm. Wind turns SW 15-30. Low -7°. More ❄️Fri & 0°

Traffic lights, street signs and signal lights were unreadable yesterday after the snow stuck everywhere. It’s a cold -16° now. At least we can enjoy sunny to partly cloudy skies today with ⬆️ clouds by pm. High -2° (norm is 4°). Wind SW 10-20. Low -6°. Flurries & 1° Thurs.

I spotted this snow caterpillar early yesterday, but with rain and temps in the mid teens, it may have melted. Winter has returned today as gusty winds turn ever colder. It’s -3° now. W/c -10, and temps will fall all day long w/flurries. Wind SW 30-50 w/higher gusts. Low -16°.

It’s 5:36pm Mon. Temp 15° in Ottawa. Not seeing any T’storms currently, after some isolated thunder early today. Wind will really start to howl late overnight into Tues. morning as MUCH colder air surges in. Bundle up tomorrow! 🥶🌬️

Took advantage of the late winter snow for a ski in the Greenbelt yesterday & I’ll go again today. It’s -10° now. High -2° with 2-4cm of snow starting this afternoon. Wind E ⬆️ 20 w/gusts over 30. Turning milder Mon. with showers or even a pm t’storm. Temps may touch the teens!

Looking beyond the Rideau Locks with the Alexandra Bridge in the snowy distance. Around 12cm of new snow in Ottawa with lingering snow showers this morning. High 0° with a NW wind ⬆️ 20-40. Low -12°. Another 2-3cm of snow Sunday for a few hours from ~midday until 3pm. High -2°.

A drive along the Ottawa River. We have snow on the way but conditions won’t really deteriorate until after the drive home. It’s -6° now. Intervals of sun & cloud today then cloudy with snow beginning around 5pm. ~7cm. High 0°. Wind SE ⬆️ ~20 by pm. Lingering flurries Sat & 0°.

Things getting icy yesterday. 22.8mm of freezing rain were reported at the airport. The overall pattern brings chilly & sometimes stormy weather to Ottawa. It’s 0° now & that will be the high today under cloudy skies w/a stray flurry possible. Wind W 30-50. ❄️ by Fri pm. ~10cm.

Sunshine, double digit temps, melting snowpack -yesterday really was the calm before the storm. Prolonged freezing rain will create dangerously icy conditions in and around Ottawa today. Stay inside if you can. Temps stay just below freezing & a cold East wind will blow 30-50.

Along the Ottawa River yesterday. Skiing was slushy. Snow pack is down to ~10cm and shrinking. Rain showers early today give way to a mix of sun & cloud and a mild high near 13°. Wind SW ⬆️ 30-50. Low 2° w/fog patches. Clouds, sunny breaks & 9° Tues.

It’s definitely puddle season. 26mm of rain fell yesterday in Ottawa. With a current temp of 4° we are still seeing melting. High today 5° under mainly cloudy skies. Wind WSW 20-40. Chance of showers late into early Mon. Low 3°. High Mon 12°. Blustery.
