For the ninth consecutive year, Kish Sports Media Network will be providing extensive professional football draft coverage in addition to spring football coverage. Kish Sports Media is being joined by Missouri Baptist linebacker, Blake Kight (@BlakeKight44) If you are a pro football draft prospect or looking for media attention to play spring football and would like to be interviewed, then feel free to contact Justin Kish via messaging us or contacting him via email at JustinDavidKishSports@Gmail.com. • Tell us about College Football Experience? My College Experience has been very unique. Originally coming into college, I was overweight and was only able to rotate as a true freshman. Then Covid happened and I was able to transform my body from 250lbs to 215lbs and was able to make a lot of noise during the COVID season where I led the team in tackles and made the all-conference team. The next year was a little shaky because I tore my MCL which forced me into another role of being a coach to my fellow teammates. That offseason I took things very personally and made sure to build up my body to ensure that I stayed healthy. I finished the season as the 6th top tackler in the NAIA and set the school record for tackles with 111. I also fought through adversity with a high ankle sprain and a stress fracture in my foot for the last five games which didn't slow down my productivity. During spring ball I was able to make a positive impact on my teammates as I took on a coaching role again. Then I finished my last season as the number one solo tackler in the nation. When you look back at your college career what is one team/player that took you to your limits. Who were they and tell us about the encounter and what did you take from it? Looking back at my college career I would have to say that Joe King was the one player that took me to my limits every day. As roommates, we were able to watch film together, workout together, and motivate each other to be the best leaders we could be for the team. Joe is the hardest-hitting safety I've ever played with. I will never forget when we played a game vs Saint Francis and he came down with four interceptions! He always preached that it wasn't the size of the dog in the fight but the heart. He showed me what it was like to practice hard every day and treat every rep like its your last. Any team looking for a baller at the Safety/DB position he is your guy! When watching game film what are some things that you look for? First off, I always like to study the personnel and formations of my opponents. As a MLB I'm playing against the offensive coordinator on every play. I look for tendencies on specific down and distances to set myself and my teammates up for success. I know that teams will change their blocking schemes up for me on gameday and usually run away from my side. So, I have to put that into effect when I am studying a team. Next, I look to study the O-Line and see if they give any tendencies away on certain plays. Lastly, I look at my opponent's top playmakers to see their strengths and weaknesses. What type of scheme better fits you as a player and why? I have played in both a 3-4 and a 4-3 and I can say they both suit me very well. I feel like I can play in any defensive scheme. In a 4-3 I play much more patiently because my D-Line can have a two-way go. This fits me well because it allows me to let the play develop and shoot my gun whenever the gap opens. In a 3-4 I excel because I can play more freely and shoot the open gap. This allows me to make a lot of great plays in the backfield. Both schemes fit me well because I am a sideline-to-sideline player. How are you currently preparing yourself for your upcoming Pro Day and future workouts? Currently, I am preparing myself for an upcoming Pro Day by combine prepping at Elite Football Academy in STL. They have an excellent training facility with top-end trainers who look to maximize results. Also, I am getting fieldwork in to continue to grow in my pass coverage and footwork. I am also studying my own film to find my strengths and weaknesses that I need to improve in my game. I like to study a lot of LBs in the league as well. What separates you from the draft eligible prospects at your position? I would say the biggest thing that separates me from other prospects in my position is my hustle and effort on every play. I am a sideline-to-sideline player with a high motor. I also make a big difference with my communication and Football IQ which allows me to process things faster on the field and slow down the game. What professional football player would you compare yourself to and why? I would compare myself to Luke Kuechly because of the way I lead on the field. I can make any play on the field because I analyze situations well and set myself up for plays. I can make a major difference in the run game and play a big role in the middle with my coverage skills. I would also compare myself to Ray Lewis because of the passion that I bring to the game every single day. What would be your final pitch to pro football general managers and scouts? My final pitch to general managers and scouts would simply be to check my film and see the consistent numbers that I have produced over the past few years in college. I have done nothing but improve throughout my career and know that I will continue to grow. I just want to be the best all-around football player that I can be in all facets of my game. All I need is the opportunity because I always find a way for things to happen with my work ethic and effort on and off the field. I truly stand on the fact that no matter where you're from, or how big you are, if you can ball you can ball. You're getting a guy who loves to work and enjoys the process every single day! #NFL #CFL #NFLDraft #CFLDraft #ProFootball
