Milana analyzed the US Women's soccer team's fight for equal pay on social media. "Campaigns like this inspire women in sports and create a better future for current college athletes nationwide," They used the hashtags #EqualPay and #WomensRights to help promote their campaign.

Sato mentioned the importance of not getting too caught up in making your career your personality. "A job is a job. I love journalism, and I love the work that I do, but I also am interested in a lot of other things..." "A lot of journalists get jobs based on their brand..."

Sato also talked about working as a freelance reporter, which she described as tough. When you work for an outlet, you get the backing on editors, lawyers and the rest of the publication. "Being in a newsroom is really helpful even if you don't have the perfect job," Sato said.

Journalist @MiaRSato joined the CSUN 495 social media journalism class to discuss her career and answer questions. #CSUNSocialJ One of the first things Sato discussed was the challenge of building trust with the public online when using platforms owned by private companies.
