Woke up to the story of a young father in this community who committed suicide. Guys, I don’t know who needs to hear this, but trading is brutally difficult. Even if you end up in the tiny percent who make it, you should expect years of failure first.
If you love trading and manage to make some money, diversify out of it so you can trade without the weight of “make it or break it” pressure. Every single trader I know who left a desk and still trades (not counting the ones who blew up) also has something else they’re doing now, even if it’s small.
And if you’re just starting, please don’t quit your job or plan on it any time soon. Early in my career, I bartended on weekends just to take some pressure off. That extra stability made all the difference.
