At the moment this election feels like 2019 in reverse, as Starmer’s Labour has a very simple slogan - “Change” - and policies we’ve known about for months or longer, whereas Sunak’s Tories seem to be offering something new each day on a platform of “clear plan, bold action, secure future”. I am not arguing Starmer is Johnson and Sunak is Corbyn! But in 2019 the Tories had approximately one and a half policies - getting Brexit “done” and something about “levelling up” - whereas Labour had an Argos catalogue of offers. We know the result. Less can be more in politics. So the test of Sunak’s many “bold actions” is whether they end up forming a coherent whole or feel a bit too random
