@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert You also said your favorite 5-6th gen game was Sunbreak, a fast and complex game that's super different from old-gen games. But it doesn't have much story, world, or ecology. So I'm left to assume you don't want much meaning, you just want action. Like most looter-shooters.
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert To spell out the subtext, it sounds like you're saying Monster Hunter needs to be shallow and not think too highly of itself or its world. Because most of these conversations have been about that and not about stuff like animation commitment or simplistic weapon loops.
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert That's what you're saying. I'm saying there's always been much more to it than that.
English

@BlasterBuilder @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert Are you really insisting 14 years of mh is anywhere near similar to a looter shooter lmao.
English

@SerLava_gaming @NotMeis95 @DreamLeaf5 There are stats comparing states' rates of DUIs. Wisconsin has uses policies of heavy police presence at specific times and routes with the intent of catching drunk drivers. It's not like they're somehow magically getting away with it more often in Wisconsin.
English

@BlasterBuilder @NotMeis95 @DreamLeaf5 They drink and drive SOOOO much. People get away with literally hundreds of DUIs a year
English

What is the deal with Wisconsin?
Terrible Maps@TerribleMaps
The 50 drunkest counties in America
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert Maybe you'd find the looter-shooter genre interesting.
English

@aleemolina24 @BlasterBuilder @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert Monster Hunter isn’t monster nature park sim.
Tokuda needs to keep his vision just a vision if it only churns out half baked games.
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert They showed us that a mega dung pod would scatter the packs. They showed us this in every doshaguma hunt demo they did.
English

@BlasterBuilder @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert Oh there is potential, but they did treat it that way in the marketing lmao.
In interviews and trailers they showed it off as some meaningful mechanic, and it’s only for like 2 monsters and negated by a simple easy to acquire item
Now if they actually expand on it, that’d be nice
English

@NotMeis95 @SerLava_gaming @DreamLeaf5 Yes. Wisconsin drinks more and drinks and drives proportionately less. This map does not measure DUIs. Think about it.
English

@BlasterBuilder @SerLava_gaming @DreamLeaf5 This in response to a picture about it being undeniably the drunkest state
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert I think you're confusing random people talking about it with Capcom's own marketing.
I'd agree if you said there's a lot of potential in it for the expansion or future Monster Hunter games.
English

@aleemolina24 @BlasterBuilder @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert Literally look up anything on the pack mechanics and it’s 90% about how oversold it was as a mechanic.
Just cause you ignored that doesn’t mean everyone else did.
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert I don't go to AAA gaming for a thin experience that does the bare minimum necessary to reliably placate me.
English

@BlasterBuilder @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert Well if the devs want that they should make monster hunter tycoon, leave it for the few fans that actually like that.
It has little bearing on the gameplay besides horrendous performance problems lmao
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert ...Like I said, they were primarily handheld games because they were popularized in Japan by local multiplayer.
Business plans shifted around 2011/12 when they began preparing for the transition. At that point, 4 and Generations were still in development.
English

@BlasterBuilder @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert The technical limitations is funny cause it’s implying there wasn’t any consoles/pc or action games until 2018 lmfao.
Like the devs had all the opportunity to do a game like world-wilds for years.
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert The ecology is actually relevant to the story, which invites you to make inferences about the world yourself. To that effect, every detail in the environment is backed by ecology and history that can be deduced just through observing nature in the game. It's an upgrade to World.
English

@BlasterBuilder @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert “The most alive world” and it’s.. 3 seasons changing on a timer and a couple bugs/fish that monsters occasionally eat.
It’s no more advanced than Skyrim as a “living world” lmao
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert That is obviously because of the technical limitations of the 3DS. Monster Hunter was a small franchise made popular in Japan because of local play between handheld devices. During the development of 4, plans were in motion to bring MH5 to PC and home consoles.
English

@BlasterBuilder @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert Then it’s weird said artists practically didn’t do that for the first 14 years of the franchises existence, and only suddenly made it a big deal for the western focused releases, while simultaneously slowly stripping the aspects that made Mh what it is.
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert Wilds has the most alive world I've ever seen in a game, and it's not close.
Packs were shown initially as a showcase of how there could be more than three large monsters per region, now including duplicates. It's also an example of the game using new technology.
English

@BlasterBuilder @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert The pack mechanic was heavily marketed for the game lol.
That’s part of the dumb “living world” concept they were going for that ultimately flopped.
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert Artists are the ones who decide what their art should strive to do. I think it's good for the series to aim higher than the limits of the 3DS games, as it always has.
English

@BlasterBuilder @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert Tri doing that with minimal story is precisely how the games need to be and it’s goofy at most in Tri, it doesn’t really take itself seriously.
Either that, or be like 4 where it just feels like a fun adventure with a fun cast, the games don’t need some pseudo deeper meaning.
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert Packs were not advertised as a "massive" mechanic, they were just shown in the demo because they were hunting a doshaguma, and they even used mega dung pods. Monsters have always had higher wound thresholds based on their difficulty rating and specialness.
English

@BlasterBuilder @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert The tweaks they needed to make they only did for a select few endgame fights, not the rest of the game which suffers these issues still.
If they had gone and adjusted the grind and difficulty of LR and HR as well, that’d be a different story.
English

@SerLava_gaming @DreamLeaf5 Wisconsin actually has a pretty normal rate of DUIs. Wisconsin drinks more responsibly and less abusively than many other states.
English

@DreamLeaf5 People in Wisconsin almost never use the word "alcoholic".
The word is reserved for either the 5th DUI or death from alcohol.
Anything less, and people will say things like "oh he has to drink alcohol in the morning or he gets a stomachache"
They also do planned drunk driving
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert On the story point, it is good for MH to have a story that contextualizes what you do. Tri did a great job with this with a very minimal story. World's story context only made everything feel contrived. Wilds creates a rich living environment imbued with narrative significance.
English

@diggerdong55 @aleemolina24 @FoxonSilverfur @MHWildsAlert The pack system is in the game to the degree that was always planned. Wounds have not been practically removed for endgame fights. That might be a skill issue.
The tweaks to new mechanics are a strength, not a weakness. One which other MH games could have benefitted from.
English

@PalmyrPar This is in Monster Hunter Wilds, but that's not on UE5.
English

Unreal Engine 5 tech demos be like “here’s something you won’t see in a single game ever to be made, let alone released.”
Loco Dev@LocoDev7701
English

@FoxonSilverfur @aleemolina24 @diggerdong55 @MHWildsAlert World's story is written horribly and barely has characters. It's just plot, and they go to invisible bioenergy and First Wyverians whenever they need to justify making you do something. It does not earn its heavy presence. The series' worst, imo. Best is Wilds, then Tri.
English

@aleemolina24 @BlasterBuilder @diggerdong55 @MHWildsAlert The Wilds story is just the World story but weaker in every way, inclding Zoh at the end being a pretty much carbon copy of Xeno.
Yeah it has good combat and I always applaud QOL, and yes it's fun. But the story railroading, it's WAY too easy, and other stuff is overlooked.
