// sfawtde spoilers dawtde spoilers (?) this is more a ramble on wifies’ genius storytelling, and a thank you to him for creating such a beautiful work of art that moved me on a more personal level. i think it’s a bit fitting and i’m pretty comfortable with being open about mental health struggles, passionate in the idea that talking about it allows others to speak up too. but the messages about mental health were so prominent here, i couldn’t help but sob 😭 it’s derek talking to avery but it feels more like wifies talking to the viewers. i found it poetic that the day that i was struggling heavily in my own head, battling thoughts of ending it and saying horrible things to myself, wifies drops this. that church scene... i’m sure anyone who has experienced depression and especially suicidal thoughts can relate heavy to the church scene with avery. the repeating actions with the screen slowly going grey, but then the world lighting up when he came across those signs derek had left him. i know it might sound silly to say it felt like that message was for me too, but it really felt like it was 😭 seeing the words “You are special” and “Remember who you are” are things I needed to hear myself. it’s words many people who feel stuck in this loop of seemingly never-ending despair need to hear. the long fight derek has with himself, knowing he’s going to die but having one more thing he wants to do, to save avery, THAT is something people with depression struggle with everyday. the message derek leaves avery at the end, that he’s capable of doing great things, that he knows avery, again all common things that can save someones life. and bro dont get me started on the “Whatever you do at the crossroads, keep going forward” THAT line makes me sob like a baby. keep fighting for the life you deserve, because you are capable of so much, and you have earned the right to see all the beautiful things that are waiting for you.
