Boston is like an hour from the Cape but Seattle has good waterfronts in walking distance of wherever you are in the city

@reisner_steven @bongomansam Agreed but the Seattle waterfronts are all in the city and people actually use them for swimming. All the ones directly in Boston are pretty much only used for boats. Plus an hour away is like 3 hours away in New England time.

@bongomansam Kinda but mostly not. Like the Boston suburbs are pretty much all spiritually Boston. The cape is definitely its own thing. Also there’s a few eastern cities that aren’t on the cape but are spiritually closer to Providence than Boston like Fall River or Somerset.

@chuthuluthebald @okitsRGS If anything it’s more of an incentive to build more IMAX theaters. There really is an insane amount of detail that they can project. 70mm cameras capture the absolute most detail in their full aspect ratio so these theaters need to project in that ratio.

One of these is a kids movie and the other is for boomers. Neither of those demographics overlaps with the Gen Z-ers who watched Obsession. My parents talked about Michael a lot with their friends when it came out. Gen Z just doesn’t go to theaters as much as other generations.
