It's genuinely so understandable to be uncomfortable with them, but that doesn't deny that they're well written. They're an interesting and complex duality, that doesn't make their start any less weird. These statements are all true at the same time!!

@BlueStatice_ EXACTLY OMG YOU PUT IT PERFECTLY!!!! I myself avoid vanijeanne like the plague but disregarding their relationship entirely would be a disrespect to mochijun. She puts so much thought into the relationships between characters

I should learn to ignore these people™, but it just. annoys me to no end when people disregard how much Vanitas is doing for Jeanne and how much he's helping her. Being met with a "But did Jeanne do that for him?? No she doesn't care lol it's all Noé!!" is just. so frustrating.

@MomolittleDevil Its even worse when you don't care about the ships, but care about the cast and the differing dualities and how they interact with each other. I wish this was so much more common to be explored. It's exciting and thrilling

@BlueStatice_ That or they need a desperately validation of their own ship. I mean it does not make v/n a worse ship when you accept that v/j can be a good ship too. Why must you bad mouth what other people like to ship to celebrate what you like to ship? (vanoé has also it's toxic traits btw)

@BlueStatice_ As if she didn't save him from literally freezing to death. Aside from that the story is long not over. We don't know what she will do for him in the future. Beside it's easy for Noé to do more when he literally is his roommate.

@MomolittleDevil Honestly I AM curious on how they'd see ruthvani, but it'd probably boil down to "this is illegal", whatever they mean by that. Either way modern fandoms doesn't want complex or toxic relationships, they want rainbows, nothing problematic and as little angst as possible

@BlueStatice_ Ok jokes aside, I don't think they care. The fact alone that you don't hate on vj often makes you a supporter in their eyes. Althoug... I bet some people would even find reasons why Ruthvani is less toxic than vanijeanne. (as if being toxic is not also a story tool)

Despite everything, vnjn is written very humanly. Their emotions are raw, in ways possible, no matter how disgusting. None of this means their relationship can't be criticized, but disregarding their positives is a quick way to show me you don't care about these characters.

I wish it was just stupid shipwar in classic sense. No, we're actively ignoring the positives Vanitas and Jeanne have for each other. Just because Jeanne isn't Vanitas' therapist doesn't make her an less of a support for him.
