Freshwater systems do more than supply water. They support agriculture, sustain ecosystems, and enable communities to thrive. When they decline, the impact is felt far beyond one place.

Water systems shape more than landscapes, they sustain life, balance ecosystems, and support communities across our region. As pressures grow, their stability becomes increasingly critical. Strengthening how we manage and cooperate around these systems is essential to ensuring their sustainability for the future. Let’s work hand in hand, for the future of our water. #BluePeaceME #SharedFuture #SharedResponsibility

As pressure on water resources continues to rise, the world is entering an era of global water bankruptcy. Freshwater is being used beyond sustainable limits, placing rivers, aquifers, and wetlands under increasing stress. Many systems are no longer able to recover, threatening ecosystems and long-term water security. This challenge extends beyond borders and requires stronger cooperation and better management of transboundary water resources. How we act today will shape what remains available in the years ahead. #BluePeaceME #SharedFuture #SharedResponsibility

When water use exceeds what nature can sustain, systems begin to break. This is what we call water bankruptcy, a growing reality across our globe. Addressing water bankruptcy requires stronger cooperation, better alignment between use and availability, and continuous efforts to manage transboundary water resources collectively. Understanding the challenge is the first step toward building more resilient and sustainable water systems for the future. #BluePeaceME #SharedFuture #SharedResponsibility

When tensions escalate, communities carry the burden, and the systems that keep families safe, fed, and connected become most vulnerable. The current situation puts millions at risk, not just from immediate harm, but from damage to the water, energy, and food systems people depend on to survive. This isn't abstract. It's about who gets hurt when essential infrastructure fails. We're calling for the protection of civilian infrastructure and the preservation of dialogue, even now. We've outlined why protecting these systems is both a practical necessity and a moral duty. Some things can't wait. Read the full statement: api.bluepeaceme.org/storage/public…
