Nah. Taking Baltimore out of the name is crazy. If they wanted a name that reflected a broader mission while still acknowledging where it belongs, it should've been “The National Museum of Railroad History & Innovation in Baltimore,” just like aquarium and the zoo.

@MatulonisJoseph As I’ve said, I’m not a bike lane apologist. They make sense where they make sense, and they don’t where they don’t. Fact is, people drive too fast on Hilton, and there’s literally a school there. Would you let your child walk across I-83 to get to school? That’s the point.

I'm not a bike lane apologist, but I do believe too many of our streets are designed to move cars as fast as possible instead of moving people safely. If reducing Hilton to one lane means fewer crashes, fewer deaths, and safer routes to schools, that's a tradeoff worth making.

Breaking news: People are hanging out where bars, clubs, and late night food spots are all within walking distance. Almost like the area is one the many entertainment districts in a major city 🤔🤔🤔

@Dvan524 I get it. My point isn't that bike lanes are the answer. My point is that Hilton is functionally a highway through a middle class Black neighborhood, and that needs to change. However we get there, the goal should be to slow cars down and allow for safe crossing.

@Dvan524 Speed cameras can discourage speeding, but they don't change the design of the road. If a road is built like a highway, people will continue to drive like it's a highway. If the goal is meaningful traffic calming and safer crossings, you have to be bold to keep people safe.

@Bmore_Ty I use Hilton Frequently at least three to four times a week since my mom lives near the hospital, however I would be against bike lanes but traffic calming and speed enforcement cameras would be okay. But taken Hilton to one land would back traffic up to caton ave

@Bmore_Ty Hilton is an abysmal street. The way people drive on it is insane. Any traffic calming here bike lane or else feels beyond necessary.

No child should have to cross what feels like a damn highway to get to school, and no one should have to risk their life trying to get around their neighborhood. We should be unapologetic about making our streets safer for everyone.

The Mayor travels on behalf of our city, just as the Council President and other elected officials do. Yet somehow, the Mayor’s limited travel is framed with a negative slant, while similar activities by others are ignored.

It’s becoming increasingly apparent that this publication applies a different standard to Black elected officials.

@kaliopepart The narrative that there’s no property tax reduction plan is false. Baltimore homeowners received a 1-cent residential property tax rate reduction this fiscal year, and the city will further reduce the rate by an additional 4 cents in FY28, bringing it to $1.99, responsibly.

Seriously hope City looks at apartment tax credit implemented over decade ago to address downtown office vacancy (b4 COVID) & expanded city wide. do deep dive where tax credit is used, if necessary, citywide, affordable housing, etc. Especially now w/ other downtown subsidies 1/
