Our paper on Science Advances today shows that global fire emissions have been stable despite the substantial decline in global burned areas over the past two decades because we tend to have more emissions from forest fires. @ciais_philippe @Yang_Chen_yc science.org/doi/10.1126/sc…

2021 global fire season: not a big fan of the word 'unprecedented' (also given that we have less than 20 years of daily data) but this year is highly remarkable with so many northern hemisphere regions being on fire simultaneously.
