Todd Golden made an interesting point to me on the lack of upsets: Elite teams have gone from slanting towards skill + playing 5-out to going all-in on dominating at the rim. It’s a higher-floor brand of basketball and the hardest style for MMs to match: si.com/college-basket…

Who's a better in-game coach... Brad Underwood or Kevin Schreiber Willard?

Never underestimate the power a chip on the shoulder provides for a group of young men in a single elimination tournament.

@MikeWiemuth I can admit when I am wrong. Been working on this skill for half a century. Miami (OH) definitely deserved an NCAA berth.

@johndissauer IU is clearly ready to move on and build for next year. Its not a developmental opportunity with the roster turnover. Ticket revenues are controlled by the NCAA so IU really doesn't profit. End of the day, the NIT berth is better going to a team that would get more value from it.

Two things can be simultaneously true... 1) IU Men's Basketball expenditures were inflated by one time circumstantial spending which impacted ROI. 2) The program needs a much better ROI.

Nigel Pack... His college career outlasted. -The first coach he played for *and* they guy who replaced him at KState. -His second college coach -7 of the 10 coaches who offered him are no longer at that school -IU...the coach who didn't offer him and his replacement

@44Christensen @MikeWiemuth Yes. It 100% is. A program that invests what Indiana invests needs to be able to land those players. They should be able to land those players. To be clear, that's only the first step. They have to have strong chemistry and culture to be competitive.

Critical priority for IU in the coming portal will be a 6'7"+ wing with upper-tier defensive ceiling. There are too many talented dudes in this league who have forward size but play with full guard skills on the perimeter.

@MikeWiemuth Almost put that in there too along with teams that aren't physically bullied by the entire conference.

Is it time for someone to change IU’s basketball Wikipedia page to say Chris Collins owns IU basketball? #iubb

The only explanations I have right now are the obvious ones. The conclusion is also obvious...this has to get better.
