The bar-tailed godwit is a species of bird that can fly for longer and farther than what most people may think. For years, scientists have been studying this bird because it flies from Alaska to New Zealand every year
To put it into perspective, that is a distance of over 7,000 miles! That’s a pretty long trip for a bird that weighs less than a pound before it takes off. People who track birds didn’t believe it at first, but in 2021, they saw a godwit that flew for 11 days straight

Sen. @lisamurkowski says more Republicans in Congress need to stand against Trump to hold him to the Constitution.
For a cautious, moderate senator this is a rhetorical call to arms

Thanks to our supporters, Kenya’s orphaned elephants always have a place to call home. A safe space where we can help them overcome physical and emotional trauma, allowing them to sleep peacefully in the knowledge they are protected by family.
By adopting, donating, spreading the word, and opening your hearts to wildlife, you help make the world a better place, for all of us! 🙏🏻

In honour of the holiday season, we're excited to share this special film — a celebration of our Orphans’ Project and poignant reminder of what our mission is all about.
You help make these scenes possible. By gifting the adoption of an orphaned elephant, rhino, or giraffe this season of giving, you support our mission to save all creatures, great and small.
An adoption is a meaningful, unique, and sustainable gift that promises to delight and inspire all year long. Learn more at

As a traveler, I'm both a proud American and a citizen of the world — and I've got a few thoughts on this coming election.
This election is deeper than partisanship. It's far more than Republican versus Democrat. In the future, big challenges like pandemics, refugees, and climate change will be blind to borders. They'll be everyone's problem and only solved by working together as a family of nations.
The world needs not American isolation, but American leadership. Not the chaos of Trump, but the stability of @KamalaHarris.
Of course, how you vote is your choice. But if you believe, as I do, in the importance of nations working together constructively, the stakes are really high...and the best candidate is clear. Register to vote today at vote.gov — and encourage your travelin’ friends to do the same!

Ever wondered what home time looks like for the orphaned elephants in our care? After a day spent roaming the Nairobi National Park forest, Muwingu took the early lead, closely followed by Nursery elders Sileita, Choka, Kitich, Loldaiga. All running as fast as their legs will carry them, knowing two bottles of milk await them in their respective stockades.

@sophiegreenart Hi Sophie, you don’t need more ideas for paintings but I just watched Haul Out about Pacific Walrus. Must watch documentary. Some of the images reminded me of your wonderful pieces. Walrus are majestic creatures. Keep up the great conservation work!

In 2018, 13-year-old Jaequan Faulkner started a small business selling $2 hot dogs with $1 sodas and chips from a stand in front of his house in Minnesota.
But his small business was in jeopardy after someone reported him to the Minneapolis Health Department.
Impressed by the young man’s drive, health inspectors decided to teach the young entrepreneur about proper food handling to assist him in getting his hot dog stand up to code.
The teen’s stand passed inspection, and it was the inspectors themselves who paid the $87 fee for his “short-term food permit."
