Dec 2019 I unfurled this banner at the King Power Stadium. As ever, a vocal minority of LCFC fans gave a rendition of "Feed the Scours & "One Boris Johnon" Tomorrow they play Millwall at the very same Stadium before facing another campaign that will see the relegated Karma hey

An incredible 52-year journey comes to an end. Following extensive consideration, BBC Sport has made the difficult decision to say goodbye to Football Focus at the end of this season. First broadcast in 1974, Football Focus is a testament to the brilliant team who have worked on it over the years and, of course, the audience. The programme has been a staple of the BBC’s football coverage for decades, providing fans with interviews, analysis and stories from across the game ahead of the weekend’s fixtures. But changing audience behaviours mean fans are now increasingly consuming football content in different ways and we need to respond appropriately as we face difficult decisions around how the licence fee is spent. Fans are accessing discussion, highlights, analysis and news through digital platforms and on-demand viewing and as viewing habits continue to evolve, it is right that BBC Sport adapts how it brings football coverage to the widest audiences across television, radio, online and to its extensive social platforms. BBC Sport boasts a strong football rights portfolio and is set to significantly expand its digital output this year growing content across BBC platforms, as well as a bold new slate of exclusive shows on YouTube. Featuring fresh formats, big personalities and more frequent, always-on content tailored for digital audiences, the expansion will bring fans closer to the game than ever before delivering more high-quality, accessible and engaging football coverage at scale. We will release further details on these plans in the coming months.

Back in July 1982 as a 15 year old, this was peak World Cup. School just finished, so ran home for the 4:15 pm kick off (which I did for every game) which was LIVE on the BBC. One of the greatest World Cup matches of all time, with great commentary. Italy v Brazil will always go down as a classic for me and for many others of a similar age, who wanted to get home in time to watch the World Cup. #WorldCup

I was there for this derby match. I thought the messiah had arrived. He hadn’t. But that day, and that goal...Wow. A 17yr old Danny Cadamarteri jumped into our blue world feet first, a precocious lad with pickpocket’s feet.

This Holocaust Remembrance Day I choose to remember Folke Bernadotte, a Swedish count and diplomat who, as vice-president of the Swedish Red Cross, managed to save more than 30k prisoners from concentration camps during World War II. In 1948 he was appointed by the UN to be the mediator in Palestine. His WWII past didn't help him when the Stern Gang (Lehi), a Zionist miltia, made him the target of a defamation campaign and released a caricature (attached) of him being kicked out of Palestine while giving the Nazi salute, with the text: "A suggestion to the agent Bernadotte: get out of our country". After Bernadotte didn't comply with the "suggestion" he was assassinated in Jerusalem by the Lehi on September 19th, 1948, along with the head of the UN's French military observers in Palestine. One of the commanders of the Lehi at the time, who was responsible for ordering the hit, was Yitzhak Shamir, later the Prime Minister of Israel.

@de_Nunez_ @ianlexus2020 @nocontextfooty I know all about the history, the 1976 coup and military junta / Operativo Independencia ! So much so that my dad had to leave Argentina. His team, San Lorenzo were forced out of the Boedo neighbourhood after they were forced to sell the stadium by the military junta 🇦🇷

@Bobbyblue1878 @ianlexus2020 @nocontextfooty Hosting is much more expensive now, plus we had a dictatorship that had no problems spending to try to hold on to power (the peak irony was using this WC motto while they killed/disappeared thousands: “Argentina is a place of peace”). Btw it did help them govern a few more years

@nocontextfooty Es una lástima que argentina no tenga la infraestructura para hacer un mundial. Pero no tengo duda que Argentina, Brasil, México e Inglaterra son los mejores países para tener un mundial, la pasión es increíble.

Everyone bitching about Everton putting season ticket prices up are the same ones who want us to sign soon to be 32 year old Grealish for 50m!! Meaning an investment with wages of 80/90m. The problem is, they've been too cheap for years!! Don't like it, don't renew, simple!
