@5150Farms Two things I would mention are the Homestead National Historical Park in NE, in Kansas the Tallgrass Prairie National Preserve is fascinating. Depending on what you want and what the boys can tolerate

@EODHappyCaptain I was an anesthesia provider in Korea at the 121st evac when a captain came in out of the field from near the DMZ she had Korean Hemmorhagic Fever and nothing we could do could save her. I think she was 28 or so. It was humbling and frustrating because we did everything we could.
When did you first realize the weight or importance of your job?
For me, it was when we had just arrived in Afghanistan. I had graduated EOD school less than a month earlier.
While we were en route on the plane, Captain Jason McMahon, the company commander for our sister unit, was mortally wounded. Everyone rushed to the hospital to say their farewells. He was a prior NCO and absolutely loved by everyone.
The next day I was tasked to be a Rifle Bearer at his ramp ceremony.
I remember standing there as his flag draped casket was loaded onto the aircraft and feeling the enormity of the task that lay ahead.
I probably mentally aged 10 years in that moment.
@brim006 I think I told you this already but watch the documentary on Alex Honnold free climbing it in 4 hours. Been there a number of times but the awe of it never goes away
I knew El Capitan was ginormous. But when we decided to hike right up near it for a picnic instead of using the dedicated picnic area, I realized I had massively underestimated just how huge it actually was.
The whole hike in, we were craning our necks straight up and still couldn’t see the climbers. They were so far above us they were too small to spot and ledges obstructed the view.
Funnier yet, I spent the entire hike in scanning for climbers with the naked eye and just assumed there weren’t any yet since it was early. Turns out there were tons of them… they were just 10x smaller than I expected. And I also learned it takes days to climb so they have to sleep there so they were scattered top to bottom right away at first light.
As a seasoned glassing bot from years of mountain hunting, this was a weirdly humbling experience. Misjudging something that badly was honestly mind-boggling. But in my defense, I’d never seen anything so massive and steep before. It completely messed with my mind.
Benji has a very distinct range of purrs. I’ve never known another cat that had so many different ones. I’ve never been able to work out why he chooses a particular purr for a particular situation.
This is just one of his selection 😸.
@XFreeze It's making us forget how broken the system is.
MrBeast calls Starlink "magic" in places with no internet. But why do those places still have no internet in 2026? Starlink profits from a gap that governments and telecom companies were supposed to fix decades ago.
MrBeast just gave one of the strongest endorsements possible for Starlink:
“I will only book flights exclusively on planes with Starlink. I don’t care if it means an extra layover - I’ll sit in the back of the plane if it gives me Starlink.”
He says Starlink has become the backbone of his global productions and travels because it works in places where traditional internet simply doesn’t exist:
• Filming in Antarctica - one of the only reliable ways to stay connected
• Building wells deep in rural Africa with full internet access hours away from cities
• Driving through remote villages and open fields with a Starlink dish mounted on the vehicle while maintaining signal the entire time
He described it as:
“Starlink is literally magic. It makes no sense.”
Now people are actively choosing flights based on whether the plane has Starlink onboard
I basically grew up under a rock so 75% of pop culture references go over my head and then the 25% that I do catch I either picked up from context clues or someone explained to me and I haven't actually seen the thing being referenced.
