@MattCowanZA Yeah, FNB is an afterthought despite spending way more than Checkers across various rugby properties including Schools and Varsity Cup.

@Bobchelin Probably a lot to do with where these brands sit in people’s minds as well.

Only one of these two brands are official sponsors of the Springboks. Take a look at the colours and tell me which one we should be speaking about? Instead people are calling it “the Checkers kit”. Why? A great marketing strategy executed to perfection.

@wadepretorius The FNB logo has also been on screen during games… Just highlights how one brand has leveraged the RWC. While the other - with the benefit of being official Bok partners - has failed to capture people’s imaginations.

@Bobchelin Checkers paying broadcast rights - so people are seeing their logo on the screens during games. Marketing spend might actually be worth it 🤣

@catolouw Used sparingly, but really enjoy “Don’t touch me on my studio!” when an opposition player bounces off a tackle.

🗣️QUESTION: What is your favourite phrase to shout at a rugby game? Specifically a Springbok game? I believe mine is just plain "COOMMEEE OOOONN" #RWC2023
