🚨 Please share this message and help raise awareness. - The newly released report from the @OSCE Moscow Mechanism provides a disturbing assessment of 🇬🇪 Georgia’s media landscape. It documents systemic pressure on independent outlets and the persistent intimidation of journalists, and a broader democratic backsliding. For Trialeti TV, this is not just a report. It reflects the reality the station has been living through. For months we have been warning that government pressure is being used against independent media in Georgia. We spoke about it publicly, explained what was happening to us, and tried to draw attention to the broader consequences this pressure could have for independent journalism and media freedom. Now the OSCE Moscow Mechanism report confirms that the environment for independent media in Georgia has seriously deteriorated. What we have been describing for months is now reflected in an international report. Trialeti TV is experiencing this pressure directly. The situation is particularly serious because Trialeti TV operates in Shida Kartli, one of the most sensitive regions of Georgia. If Trialeti TV disappears, it will not only mean the loss of jobs for journalists and media workers. It would mean the loss of one of the few independent media voices in a region located directly next to the occupation line - a region where reliable local journalism is essential for countering Russian disinformation and ensuring that communities have access to trusted information. International reports can confirm what is happening, but they cannot keep journalists working or newsrooms operating. Public awareness and support remain essential. 🤝 If you believe independent regional media should survive, please consider supporting the effort to keep Trialeti TV alive. Even a small contribution can make a real difference. If you cannot donate, sharing this message also helps us enormously. The more people learn about this situation, the greater the chance that independent regional media in Georgia can survive. Thank you to everyone who stands with us and supports independent journalism! 🙏 gofund.me/38ac785e3

Battle of Orlivka (Late February - Mid March 2024) The defense of Orlivka was a critical effort to stabilize the front following the Ukrainian withdrawal from Avdiivka. The village served as a key point in the new line of defense along the Berdychi–Orlivka–Tonenke axis. Instead of rapid advance, Russian troops were drawn into slow, attritional fighting. Repeated infantry assaults, supported by glide bombs and drones, failed to produce a decisive breakthrough as Ukrainian forces continued to contest every position. While Russian forces later achieved a breakthrough near Ocheretyne, the fighting in Orlivka slowed Russian momentum and disrupted efforts to quickly expand their gains after Avdiivka. Mad Max Squad - Kursk Operation, October, 2024. 💬"After the sea deployment, we were pulled out and returned to the PPD (permanent deployment point). We rested a little - literally about five days - and then they said: “There’s a task - we’re heading to Sumy.” We packed our gear and “off we go”. When we arrived, they immediately told us that we were already supposed to be on the positions yesterday. The guys had just arrived straight from the road - they jumped into the vehicles and headed to refuel. There they were briefed on the plan: enter and retake the positions. Then they moved to a point where an M113 was waiting, loaded into the vehicles, and headed to the positions. They arrived at some houses near a lake - no windows, no doors, and artillery was firing somewhere a couple of kilometers away. The guys went inside one of the houses and lay down to get a couple hours of sleep before moving to the objective. The mechanic said: “I was so cold (it was October). I grabbed a cat, put it on my chest, started petting it - it was purring and warming me.” They woke up around 05:00 in the morning - there was fog everywhere - and they moved out in combat formation across a dam. But there was a river there, and while the guys had been sleeping the dam had been blown up, making passage impossible. A decision was made to pull back. Later an APC arrived and took them across another dam. They drove almost all the way to the positions, dismounted, cleared two tree lines, and when they started digging in, Max noticed movement in the trees - a “p***r” was waving his arm through the fog, as if giving the command “forward, forward.” The guys started hammering the tree line with fire. Zhak then heard shots coming from the field at our group that was evacuating a “200”. He grabbed a captured PKM machine gun and opened up on the field. There were many bodies - both enemy and our own guys. One half of the group remained on the positions, while the other carried our “200s” to the APC so the fallen could be taken away and buried. Among the fallen was a Hero of Ukraine - "SLON / СЛОН". He was a very "tough-as-nails" warrior, a man surrounded by legends (his body was evacuated). Next, we were briefed that the second group would be taking over the positions, and we were to withdraw by AFV. A mortar strike began, and we were still about 20 meters away from the vehicle when it closed its ramps and stepped on the gas - the driver fled. We were all in total shock! We decided to exit on foot through the tree line we had cleared earlier. When we had already reached the middle of the tree line, a mortar round hit the center of our group, and we had two “300s” - one hit in the knee, the other in the buttocks. Our medic jumps up and rushes over to provide aid, but the next shell wounds him in the leg. Then the "rodeo" started - drone drops, mortars. We began dragging the wounded into foxholes, and another shrapnel piece hits a comrade in the arm. It went like this: — Dyak: “Don’t climb out - they’re f***ing hammering us.” — Kofe: “I’ll climb out and help.” — Dyak: “Sit the fuck down!” He didn't listen; as soon as he climbed out, he got hit in the arm. Ryzhyi got hit under the knee. They put a tourniquet on him, but he developed compartment syndrome - blood was building up above the tourniquet and formed a pocket of blood. He was lying there saying: “Fuck… it’d be a shame to lose the leg.” The mechanic got hit in the a**, and he started losing consciousness. At that moment a drone hovered above him and dropped a VOG grenade. He crawled away on his hands, and it blew up. He said: “F***ing bastards,” and crawled back into the hole. Later he said that he thought he was going to become a “200”, and his only wish was to call his daughter and say goodbye. They kept pounding us for half an hour, and then we waited for evacuation because movement was impossible - there were many “300s” who couldn’t walk. Those who were still unhurt shot down drones and camouflaged the wounded with branches and leaves. Zhak asked Dyak: — “Are we going to drink beer tonight?” And Dyak replied: — “Bro… thirty minutes ago I thought we wouldn’t.” This was at 13:00, and the evacuation happened at 18:20. The second group (the one that moved in to secure the positions) - all of them became 300s. {{{I skipped this part where two soldiers got wounded by drones.}}} And the mortar kept f***ing pounding without stopping. Then Max had an idea: if they had to stay there overnight, he and the guys who were still on their feet would go and destroy the mortar, because there was no other option. But the drones didn’t even allow anyone to climb out of the holes. Our guys shot down up to 10 drop-drones, but they just kept coming and coming. Every single guy lying there was certain they were all going to be "200" But then, at 18:20, they heard the roar of engines - M113s were racing toward our guys (The reason it took so long was that the EW systems were recharging). Those men, with balls of steel, flew in and snatched our boys up! As the guys were loading into the vehicles, an FPV drone struck nearby, further wounding our "300s". Our unit took a real beating that day. Out of 18 men, 5 were heavily wounded and 5 were moderately wounded. Everything was against us that day, but we all survived."

The post is quite long, but I thought it was interesting and gives a good description of one of the most difficult battles, where many brave fighters fell. It was translated with the help of ChatGPT, so of course there are some minor mistakes, and unfortunately some Ukrainian idioms and slang are missing.
