We reached the Final 16 in Canada's Greatest Song. Started with 300 songs from all genres (children's, hip hop, rock, pop, disco, etc) in December, and have slowly eliminated songs to get to this point. Over 1.4 million votes have been cast. Hope everyone has enjoyed it :)

@TheMonoxides Oh wow! Now that’s a flashback I wasn’t expecting today. I lived within walking distance of this place as a kid. It was also known for … ummm how do I say it….maybe not being as diligent checking IDs as they could have been ;)

A piece of Moncton's music history is being torn down next month. This building was once home to the Esquire Tavern, perhaps one of the most unlikely music venues the city has seen. Bands just wanted a place to play. And the Esquire gave us that place. 1/x

At the end of January, the Nova Scotia government decided a person would now have to spend at least 50 per cent of their pre-tax income on housing in order to qualify for a rent supplement, up from 30 per cent. cbc.ca/news/canada/no…

Toronto has gone completely fecking mad We're moving out of our apartment next month. We currently pay $1870 per month for a one-bedroom, one-bathroom 683 ft² space. It's just been relisted for $2900 per month. That's a 55% increase in less than 2 years.

These houses were built as simple ways to house people in a time of high demand. They are still great homes here in Halifax and elsewhere — not shacks. Does he think McMansions for everyone will solve the housing crisis? chch.com/pierre-poiliev…

I mean…is Nova Scotia okay? Between the housing crisis, the carbon tax, the rising food costs, & the disaster that makes up our current health care system, it appears that our provincial government has decided that 2023 will mark the beginning of their villain origin story.
CBC Nova Scotia@CBCNS

Some tenants in the Halifax area say they’ve been forced to find new places to live, after questioning rent increases by their landlords that were above the province's two per cent rent cap. cbc.ca/news/canada/no…

I also asked about the long-term re-housing of those who have lost their homes. Both Houston and Savage said there are already discussions about how to help. No details, but it is of course early going.

Yesterday, the city and province had duelling press conferences about the fires, suggesting (to me, anyway) some political divide. But today, they're back to holding a joint press conference (happening now).
