It is with great sadness we pass on the news that our mother Beryl left us peacefully in her sleep in the early hours of this morning. It leaves a huge hole in our family but we take great peace in knowing that her and dad are now reunited. Rest in peace Mum.

Not being funny but this wouldn’t be news if she wasn’t Paul’s daughter. I mean, it’s not like she’s been riding for years n years. You’d think she had over a 1000 winners and multiple G1s

@gerryd84 So women without the name have to be exceptional before they count, and women with the name get mocked for having it. Glad we got there.

@BogdanskiKerry Exactly, she had to prove to the world she was something special, this is my point 😂😂 if you don’t have the name, your a nobody unless you work godam hard, travelling and wrecking your body to make a name. Meg and oliva didn’t have to do that.

@gerryd84 Hayley Turner isn’t from a famous racing family, so she doesn’t prove your “it’s about the name” point. She actually proves the opposite: women have to be exceptional before racing gives them proper credit.

@BogdanskiKerry Hayley turner, brilliant jockey. Trail blazer, did things that many women jockey haven’t done, yet she only gets guest spots. It’s not about their sex, it’s about their name. Hayley is informative, she had a bigger and longer career. Tell me what Meg has done??

@BogdanskiKerry And it’s true. I’m not the only one to think it. Meg Nicholls probably wouldn’t have got a tv presenting job if she was just a normal jockey who didn’t win anything big. I know jockeys who won big races and quit the saddle with a tiny write up.

@gerryd84 It’s not “having nothing against young women” that matters. It’s the instinct to see a young woman get a tiny bit of coverage and immediately go: “she only got that because of who her dad is.” That’s the bit I’m picking up on.
