@NrOluwasusi There’s too much going on back home. The career progression and options are limited, the financial gain is not encouraging, the forces fighting against them are even greater, and greater number of matrons are not very keen on study or extra responsibility past a certain position.

Yea I’ve learnt a lot, did a lot of course but there is so much to still be learnt. I shadowed a NP yesterday, a neuro NP and I’m like damn. The difference is clear, wide. I think if there is career progression like this in Nigeria, our matrons won’t just be sitting down and be firing for post alone, the juice will be there also.

The difference in knowledge is wide. I have a lot to do, no pressure but I still have a lot to do.

This bottle brand is supposed to keep drinks hot/cold for 8 hours… it’s been 48 hours, there’s still ice in it and now it’s clumped and gross to me 😭

No exam is above me, local or international, I only need adequate preparation and recall time.

Hello?! I don’t think the weather in Nigeria supports an outdoor wedding, let’s stop punishing our guest by putting them under the hot sun for aesthetics. If at all, very early in the morning before 10am or after 5pm.

Six months ago, I faced a five person panel interview. After multiple rounds of phone screenings and exams that lasted for six weeks, this was the final in person stage. This wasn’t just any job. The pay was excellent, but what really drove me was the realization that if I landed this position, I could retire in ten years. I loved the role that much. So I went all out in my preparation, and it showed. About minutes into the interview, I had the entire panel engaged, everyone except one person. She was a woman about my age with a completely flat affect. Her expression was impossible to read. she had a perfect poker face. Then she finally spoke. Her question was a tough one, but fortunately, I was ready for it. In fact, it was almost magical, she asked it word for word exactly as I had written it in my notepad. She said, “I see from your resume that you’re military trained with active experience in ICU, ER, Psyc and MedSurg. You have everything… except the experience needed for this job.” I didn’t rush. I took a deep breath, and a slight, sheepish smile formed at the corner of my mouth. In my head, I thought, Welcome to the party. Out loud, I replied calmly, "Thank you for that question, Mrs. [Her Name].” The moment I said her name, I saw her relax for the first time. “Yes, you’re right, I don’t have direct experience in this specific position. But the last five years have built me precisely for this question and this role.” I wrapped it up by saying, “I want to be the best registered nurse I can possibly be. To achieve that, I believe I need this experience. This is the final piece of the puzzle, and I’m convinced I’m in the right place, with the right people, to make it happen.” She listened to everything, paused for a moment, and simply said, “Oh… thank you.” That was it. Last Thursday, I received the job offer, everything exactly as I had dreamed. And guess who volunteered to train me? Yes… it was her. Challenge accepted. ~SgtShow

@AdekemiSaliu Only issue to that is I live in an apartment complex so all my properties have to be inside, the only thing that stays outside is a foot mat. Even dustbins have a time they shouldn’t be in the hallway

Two years ago, I paid for a stranger’s visa I met on LinkedIn. A band 6 job from Nigeria to London. No guarantees, just a feeling to help. He still sends me a "thank you" every year...even after I’ve told him to stop. That’s how you know gratitude is genuine. In a world where people ask "what do I gain?", be the person who changes someone’s life anyway. You may never fully see the impact… but trust me, it echoes.

@Boladaleee It’s always like that at first. Our body have a way of forcing us to do the usual. Dieting actually made me realize we are never truly as hungry as we say. If I’m on diet now, by day 3 I forget to even eat totally. I just make sure I have my electrolyte water always

How do I explain to people that I can lose 6kg in a week without gym. I’ve done it severally. I want to wear an old dress to church on Sunday. Get on this diet the whole week and I’m good. 😂

Prayer changes things. Don’t stop praying . Don’t stop believing in him that is eternal and ever loving. For he is a rewarder of they that seek him. Keep on pressing.
