One thing people will miss is this won’t meaningfully impact daily playercount. Most of these weren’t real players, they’re farm accounts used then sold in bulk, left idle, or later repurposed (often for cheating). And despite this, a huge portion of farming operations are still active. This is a multi-million dollar ecosystem, these waves don’t stop it. Farms pause, adapt, and continue like they always do. Valve has done this pattern before, clean up around new skin-related systems, create fear, then go quiet again (for years). These waves don’t just target farmers, they’re also meant to scare buyers. And once again this isn’t a push against cheating. It’s a cleanup tied to skins, Armory Pass and revenue. Not player experience, not competitive integrity. That said, it's still worth watching how this evolves, especially with the recent TF related changes. Whether this turns into somethinh sustained or just another isolated cleanup cycle is something we'll see over time. Everyone can decide for themselves how much confidence they want to place in Valve.
