Gran Canaria passport control/immigration this weekend for those who don’t live in the EU. This is not about Brexit per se although you will find many who blame it. There are simply many non-Schengen (mainly non-EU) citizens arriving at the same time. Especially given the €395 million invested that has resulted in hundreds of machines not even working. The EU should suspend this system for the summer otherwise many nationalities will face longer and longer queues. Greece has already abandoned it. Others need to follow.

It could like the rest of "Europe" (including Gibraltar) choose to join Schengen &/or the EU or EEA (or Swiss like reciprocate FoM with the EEA30)

EU entry-exit system. The EES was never intended to contend with the British. Most of the “third-country nationals” crossing Schengen frontiers are from the UK. We add too much pressure in too many inadequate border locations. Europe must pause and reflect independent.co.uk/travel/news-an…

The obvious thing to do is to let Brits use the eGates. Why? ✅ other EU & Schengen nations reportedly allow this, like Greece, Spain, Italy & Portugal. ✅ the U.K. allows Germans to use our eGates ✅ the Brits aren’t likely to be overstayers, illegal immigrants etc.

I have a grave problem with the term rejoin, it implies acquiescence (which will not happen) and the same terms as before (which will not happen, looking at you @andrewhesselden). Application means the EU trusting the UK to not have a fuckwit mentality in the future, EUR etc.
