The match between my fellow Americans @HansMokeNiemann and @awonder676 is very exciting and i love the format, 2 short classical games a day, rated, winner takes it all! The tenacity of Hans is world class, while Awonder , by outplaying him is showing that he is capable of anything. I feel that the fact that it’s played in Paris , somehow brings chess back to the era of Cafe de la Regence , La Bourdonnais , Anderssen and Morphy. In an economy where 30 players are fighting for 10 invitational spots this is a way to go. Bravo!

Anish, we all love you, but chill bro. I get why Hikaru's comment about him being a stronger audience draw might irk you, but he's 1000% correct. He's also 1000% correct in saying that outside of the top20-ish chess players who get invited to all the major tournaments, its hard to make a living... So having events like the EWC, even if the schedule conflicts with other tournaments, is great for the game as it opens up more much-needed money earning opportunities for players. But hey, if you need the added motivation to beat him in the candidates... power to you lol

Also, I think @GMHikaru and @DanielRensch should have another chat. It's been a while, it seems.

Anish, we love you, and youre a great ambassador for the game... And I have somewhat mixed feelings about Hikaru, especially how he bullied Hans and handled that whole situation... But you cant deny that Hikaru has FAAAAAR more reach than you do and has done more to grow the sport. I still remember when I first started following chess, one of my friend was like "bro, Hikaru, one of the top players in the world, is one of its biggest streamer"... and I was like "woooaaaah. Thats crazy access for fans!!!" That was around when you lost to van foreest in that tata Steele playoff, cause I remember that being the first tournament I followed live after. Give respect where respect is due man... your position here is silly at best!

The problem is not the bad views.📉 The problem is that you are attempting to backstab your colleagues, just to increase your chance of finishing second at the EWC. That is not nice. And I am not scared of your mob. It is not a big mob, as everyone can see.
