In John 15, Jesus reminds us that His goal for us is not success or comfort in this world.
Our time here on earth is the shortest phase of our existence, and it’s an eternal tragedy to place all of our hopes, dreams, energy, and effort into it.
We were made for heaven.
Father, give us the wisdom to enjoy this life that you have given us on earth in such a way as to prepare us for the eternal life to come.
Amen

@RealJamesWoods@PolitiBunny Long ago, my mom insisted she & my dad walk out of a Bob Hope movie because Hope put on a woman’s girdle. Comedy sure has fallen.
We’ve all made jokes at Jimmy Kimmel’s expense. But Mr. Kimmel is a fellow artist, and I am in fact heartbroken to see the way he has been treated. I believe he is, in his heart of hearts, a good and decent fellow, devoid of malice and hate.
Just kidding, Jimbo. Eat shit.
Is picking Eleanor Roosevelt cheating?
She was right on every issue except prohibition, but watching her father die from alcoholism gives her a pass. Who belongs on your Mount Rushmore of 1900s non-presidents?
The new episode drops tomorrow on X.
@sensei_bas@Vitus_osst@throwem_out I’ve been told the Diocese of Passau, Bavaria, owns a brewery. Friend buys the beer for his restaurant&beer garden there. Refers to it as the Bishop’s brewery🤣
@Vitus_osst@throwem_out Belgium, France and the south of the Netherlands have deep rooted traditions of monks brewing beer.
Send me a DM and I can send you a pack if you want.
"I’ve been seeing a lot of conflicting opinions on this lately, and I’m curious where you all stand: Is it actually appropriate for a priest to drink beer in public?
@Vitus_osst My folks used to invite the Franciscan who filled in saying Mass on Sundays in the ‘50s. My dad asked if he wanted a beer. Priest looked at us kids who were hanging on every word. He winked & said: Sure, but don’t tell the pope. Of course we all erupted in giggles.

@ShannonBream Truth! I turn 80 this year and have problems getting my bag in the overhead. Honestly, I don’t even have to try because a kind gentleman usually offers first.
I fly. A. Lot. One place I can say chivalry is not dead is on flights. On nearly every flight I take I see men of all ages offering to help women of all ages with heavy bags they are putting in/taking out of overhead bins. I’ve never seen a woman get offended or refuse the help. Not saying that never happens, I just haven’t witnessed it. But thank you to the good dudes who offer! (My luggage is one of the primary reasons I lift 2-3 times a week, so I can get it done when I need to!)
Did anybody else's priest today make the connection between the road to Emmaus and a Mass?
First half is recounting scripture/the Gospel. And the second half is breaking of the bread aka the Eucharist
@luxemiaa My son bought his family’s tickets. I bought mine. His & 2 kids seats were in Econ back row. DIL&I a few rows up. Deplaning, Guy in frt of son & kids said to us: your family? Their conversation was best entertainment I ever had on a flight!
Did anyone in your family ever own a full set of encyclopedias? Those heavy books sat on the shelf like treasure - we'd actually flip pages to look stuff up. Who remembers Britannica or World Book?
x.com/WallStreetApes… Not a peep from Media, American cardinals, the Pope, Tucker, Megyn, Candace and the rest of the woke right about this👇👇👇👇👇👇👇
