.@U_S_Steel ICONIC ET -- since my son-in-law isn't on social media I can post this. ❤️ I had an extraordinarily talented local artist paint the Edgar Thomson Plant for his Christmas present (she Thrifted this frame so well it was free!) His grandfather worked there for 40 years.

@dovi_feldman You’re not as close as you think to being ready to debate this topic. At minimum, try adjusting wages for inflation and start there. The average factory worker in 1920 was not earning the equivalent of $15- 40,000 a month.

Im almost ready to debate someone on the topic. I just need to practice with Grok as my devil's advocate so i got all the history down. Idk why people are even considering bringing manufacturing to america while all our other jobs are also being sent overseas. The average usually factory worker made between $42,000 to $15,000 a month in 1920. Average Factory worker.

Had a great phone conversation with an X follower this morning and it really brought home the fact that you can’t rebuild America’s manufacturing base just by buying machines. You need talent. You need raw materials. You need time. Lead times are long. Some metals are scarce while the cost for others is high.  But the real bottleneck? People. We need to train the next generation now.

Construction at the Sagrada Familia. The tower with the rib structure will be filled with custom milled stone blocks, each of which will be drilled and fitted with Ikea-like bolts, mounted in teflon. That will connect all the blocks in a slightly flexible chainmail like structure that will let seismic waves just pass right through without any structural effect. AMAZING. This is the only way the old design can be built to meet contemporary earthquake codes. Sagrada when complete will be one of the safest buildings in Barcelona.

Let's remember that Art is about self-expression: anything at all that a person feels is a fit subject. If you love your dog, then that's as noble a subject as you need. Likewise if you love welding! Or forging! Or whatever it is, celebrate and dignify it, spiritualize it with Art. That's why Art exists: not for Fame, not for Museums and Critics, not for Ego, not for Manhattan Cocktail Parties. It's for all of us, for any use or need we see fit to employ it. No apologies!
