Just a little travel tip for those traveling to Japan for the first time for Evo Japan. If you want to use data overseas and to spend much less than roaming charges, look into using an eSIM if your phone supports it. I’m old, so this was new tech for me when I traveled to Taiwan. Haha. I used to just get pocket WiFi, but this seems to be the optimal route now. You can get some cheap plans for pretty good data amounts. I’m also going to try and use WiFi Calling on the eSIM so I can make calls and use texts on my phone as well, but again your phone and carrier have to support that. I’ll get back to you if I find out it works. Haha. Just download the app for the provider and check their pricing plans to help decide which to go with. I read good things about Ubigi, Saily, and Airalo among others. Interestingly, apparently we get referral codes to give people 20% off. This isn’t a paid ad on my part, just wanted to give this out to help people save money. But again, choose the provider based on your own research. This was after he had a previous group filled with noisy people whose conversations could be heard all the way in the front of the bus. At this point I wonder if Japan needs some kind of mandatory entrance exam for visitors.

Watched a Kyoto bus driver get angry (almost physical) with a foreign passenger and another from their group who tried convincing them that their credit card works for buses & trains (lol?), then didn't have physical cash to pay their fare. The driver's anger was 100% justified.
