Firefly being cancelled still feels like a weird open wound for a lot of us who watched it back then. That crew just had something special.
People compared me to Kaylee constantly, so I’ve always had a soft spot for that ship and that mechanic.
I’ll be honest, I wasn’t always a fan of animation as a continuation for live-action. But Firefly always hinted at a universe much bigger than the show’s budget could ever show. Animation could actually let that world breathe.
And let’s be real. Firefly is over 20 years old now. A lot of the pushback is coming from fans from that era who just aren’t used to thinking of animation as a serious way to continue a story.
